"Hey," a familiar voice spoke, "what are you doing out here?" she asked, handing me a cup of coffee, the steam engulfed the palms of my hands; warm and cozy. Just like home was. "Thought I'd give the rain some company." She smiled, she loved it when I'd talk to the rain or moon like they were people. She'd just watch me. "Mind if I keep you some company?" she asked, sitting beside me on our outdoor couch. "Not at all, my love." I leaned into her chest as she wrapped her arms around me pulling me close. "So, what are we talkin about?" I giggled at her nosiness, "we're talking about the time you proposed to me at the parade," I looked up to see her reaction, a loving smile spread across her precious face, "and about how you nearly dropped the ring at our wedding." this time a confusing look took over. "Wedding? We didn't have our wedding yet." A wash of sadness came over me. "I know, my love," she waited for me to answer her unsaid question. "That's because, I never made it out that day." more confusion and a hint of fear filled her head, "Never made it out? What do you mean? We're here, right now. Babe, you're not making any sense." i sighed and got up, i looked down to see my arm began to fade, tears threatened to fall from her beautiful, ethereal eyes. "No, my love. We are not here." with that my entire being faded, she yelped and sprang forward but it was too late.
Her pov
I awoke to find myself in a hospital bed, covered with a gown. My stomach throbbed in pain and my arm stung when i moved it. "What the hell happened?" i spoke, alerting the doctor that must've been mine. "Ah, you're awake," a look of hesitation took over and something else but, i can't tell what it is. I looked around the room, where is she? Where's my girlfriend? "Ma'am, i am very sorry to inform you... But, miss Greene didn't make it due to the critical gunshot wounds." what?! "Gunshot wounds?!" i yelped out, he looked down, "you probably don't remember but, there was a shooting at the parade you were at. Miss Greene took a bullet to her spinal area and neck area, it seemed that she had blocked two bullets from fully entering your abdomen." it all came back to me, gunshots were heard just after i had proposed. People were running and shouting, shoving us out of the way. We were out in the open. I remember her screaming for me to get up and run, but, I didn't. I couldn't move, hell, I couldn't speak. Last thing i remember was her jumping on top of me and then we fell down, in each other's arms. She died, because, i wouldn't move....

Hey! I hope you guys enjoyed this, it's my first ever COMPLETED short story. I also want to say, i based this story off of an attempted shooting that happened last year, a friend of mine saw a guy with a gun and immediately alerted the cops. Please, be careful if any of you are going. Again for those who have read this thank you so so much for taking the time to read it!❤❤❤
