As Albatross ran through the forest, he could hear the giants chasing after him. His feet practically flew across the forest floor, over roots and through bushes, carrying him past towering trees and long vines, until he came upon a cliff. The giants were about to get him, and he had only one chance for survival. He jumped, the ground crashing down towards him-
I shot upwards, my head hitting the bottom of my sisters bunk.
"Oi! Quit it down there, I'm tryin' to sleep ya pig!"
"Sorry Elyria..." I muttered, rubbing my head. I've been having that same dream lately, as soon as I hit the ground in it, I wake up. I feel like there's more to it, like it means something, but I could care less. Today was crown day, and it only occurred every decade, celebrating the crown, and choosing the prince or princesses royal servant from the crowd. When the prince or princess inherits the throne, the servant becomes the royal advisor! Rumour has it that either Juno or Mars visits each year, depending on the heart of the chosen servant. Once, a prophet showed up, spouting out a prophecy that gave out kingdom most of the land on this plane we call earth.
I got out of bed, taking my dress clothes from the closet, pulling on a dark blue tunic and tan breaches, deciding to pull on my leather jacket as it was fairly chilly outside. My mother and father were at the fire, talking in hushed tones, already dressed in their best apparel. I picked my sister in the ribs, saying "It's crown day!"
"I hope I get picked, then I won't have to deal with you anymore..." she said, dozing off.
"Free food"
"Wait what? Crown day? Get out of my way Al!" She said, rushing into the closet, waiting for me to sit by Mom and Dad. I sat down, staring into the flames, visions of the food everyone got dancing in my head.
My family was one of the poorer ones, only avoiding eviction because of the wild dogs that patrolled the perimeter, courtesy of me. I had a way with animals, usually because me and the dogs went hunting for food, and they were as good as any pack of hounds out there.
A few minuets later, we were on our way to the castle, stepping into the giant courtyard, the children on the left, the adults on the right. An old woman fell before my feet, and I almost kicked her away, I actually thought of that.
But wait, this could be a test, a Divine being in disguise... I should help her out... i thought, and helped the old woman to her feet.
"Thank you kind young man, may the gods bless your heart..." she said, hobbling away. I went to sit down sitting to the left of my sister, her being on the far left end of the row, hoping it would help her chances. Being chosen seemed like an honour to everyone, everyone except me. I knew that the noble brats were all snobby stuck up arses.
One speech after another, the choosing ceremony was finally steering, and I could've sworn I saw the same old lady from before, only this time in flowing golden robes, her face growing younger, walking through the doors of the castle.... but, it must have been my imagination, nobody here, not even the king and queen, could ever find someone to make something like that. Unless, she was... no, that's impossible, that couldn't have been Juno!
I barely noticed the monk come out, and noticed just in time too, for he was pouting that gnarled old staff, straight at me.
"He, he shall be the princesses servant!" He yelled, in a raspy voice.
