I woke up knowing today was going to be detrimental. Yesterday I got fired and the day before that my girlfriend broke up with me because of something my ex-girlfriend said to her.
As of today my plans are to find a new job.
I have an interview scheduled with a guy name John from metro 1 loss prevention. My meeting is at 10:00 am. I have another job interview at 1:00 pm sharp with shake shack. They emailed me saying their running on a tight schedule and they have little to no time to complete each interview.
I try to get out of bed twisting and turning, squirming around until I finally get up. I glanced over at my mirror and saw a failure looking back at me. Thoughts came to my head of how I screwed up and ways I could have avoided it, but it got all scrambled up. My mind takes me on a journey through all the possibilities and outcomes my brain THINKS I can take. Imagine driving down a road with a cluster of flies hitting your windshield. I either have to keep going hoping it won't block my driving view or turn my windshield wipers on so I can see while I drive. Anyways I'm not a good ################# so I hope u get the gist of what I'm saying. MY BRAIN GETS CLUSTERED. I punched the mirror in disappointment. I walked to the bathroom to wash off my bloody fists, grabbed a tweezer and plucked out the small shards of glass then threw some peroxide on my wounds. The continuous burning sensation felt like my hand was drowning in acid. All I can think about was calling 911 for the fire department to come and put this fire out. That's a road my mind tried to take me down, so not only does it find exits for situations it makes them seem more extreme.
I dabed my hand with a towel and wrapped it with an ace bandage. I needed to shower so I went to the closet for a plastic bag that I can put my hand inside to prevent my ace bandage from getting wet. After my shower I brushed my pearly white teeth. I love freshly brushed teeth, its like I'm living in the 5 gum commercial. If you haven't seen that commercial your missing out. They made a couple of different variations that takes you beyond satisfied with your fresh breath.---- Dont be hesitant about buying the gum, I'm literally chewing a piece as I'm writing---- . After I brush my teeth it's 7:00am I have to leave my house by 8:00am if I want to get there on time. I run to the closet grab my ironing board, throw my suit on it and turn the iron on. While its heating up i go put my socks and undergarments on and run back to the ironing board. As I'm ironing my jacket I turned the news on to see the temperature for the day. Its going to be 80 degrees and I got to wear a suit how great. I hate the heat because for some reason my body likes to perspire more than it needs to and I have to carry a hand towel. I finished ironing my clothes, quickly throwing them on along with my shoes. My tie was somewhere in the closet hanging. The times passing me by, its now 7:30 am and I'm searching through my closet for my tie. 7:35 am I find my tie, run to the mirror, fix my tie and jet to the doors so I can leave. I walk outside my house and guess what I forgot? My resume. How great. I run to my dining table and pick up my 3 resumes, a pen and a pad for notes. I run through the doors lock my house and head for the train. I checked my phone for the train arrival. I have 5 minutes to get to the train, its now 7:45 am. That means my train arrival is at 7:50 am. The time I reached the station was 7:48 am. I heard the announcement that the train was arriving so I swiped my metro card and I had no money on it. I ran to the MTA train booth and put $20 on my metrocard and swiped again. The train just opened and I got in on time. I tried to find a corner seat to sit, lucky me there was 1 left and I took it. I started to think about the questions they would ask and practice answering them. The next stop came and a crowd of people came in. Newyork trains are the worst, they stay crowded, I don't have claustrophobia but newyork makes me feel like I do. Being pressed between people or against the door is very uncomfortable. Not to mention the body heat with the odors. 1 minute you smell a girls perfume, next minute you smell Axe body spray
Atlantic avenue came and Suddenly I saw this girl walk in. She wasn't any ordinary girl. She seemed like the b***hy type, but also looked kinda friendly. The type to feel "all that" like the world owed her something but didn't wanna take it. She dug in her bag for a book of some sort. Not a regular book that you would see at barns and noble but a book you can only get from the inside if you know what I mean. The book was titled world system builder. A blue book with a globe on the front to emphasize that fact that its a "WORLD SYSTEM BUILDER". I didn't mean to keep looking at her but I loved her eyes. She was Asian but she didn't fully have those chinky eyes that most of them have, so I knew she was mixed with something but what?. She was so beautiful that it didn't seem real. How could this beautiful girl be living in a neighborhood like this?. As my mind drifted away with my thoughts on how is she here, I kept glancing at her. I don't know why I couldn't keep my eyes off her, but I finally did and that's when her stop came. She packed her book back into her bag and left. I remembered her stop because mines was next. I got up and checked my seat for any of my belongings, then I exited the train. The address I needed to visit wasn't easy to find, it was a small side street. Along the street was many construction sites and scaffoldings, so I used my GPS and looked at every building until I found this corporate building. The building had revolving doors and security at a check in desk. I approached the security guard and he asked for an I.D. and to sign the visitors log. I gave him my I.D. and wrote down my first and last name, reason for the visit, time and date. I asked him which floor was metro 1. He said the 4th floor. I walked to the elevators and I hear a slight female scream saying "HOLD THE DOORS" so I peek my head out and she's still talking to security. I press 4 then i press the close doors button. Just before the doors touch it opens again, I see the same lady that was screaming to hold the doors. She walk in panting and she presses 3. She tried to open a conversation with me by saying thank you, I said your welcome back to her and kept silent. She started to babble something about why she had yelled. It sounded like she was late for something but I didn't care. I just wanted the doors to open on 3 so she can get out. She smelled like a combination of fish and sea water, and I don't think it was because she was swimming in the ocean. The doors opened on 3 and she ran out saying "have a good day". I kept quiet as the doors slowly closed shut. The door open on the 4th floor. I didn't know which way to go so I decided to go to the side that's closest. I turned right and went around the corner to the left and surprisingly that was the right way. I knocked on the door. Nobody answered. A few minutes went by while i was waiting for someone to let me in. By this time it was 9:50 am. There wasn't any indication telling me to walk in or wait so I slowly turned the knob to see what would happened and I tried to peek through before I opened it all the way. First I saw a white wall, then a small table with paper on it, then I saw a window so I started to open the door all the way. I felt like a major creep but who cares I had a interview to attend. The door flung open and I see a guy standing holding the door open for me. I slowly walk in and there were other people inside sitting down. I walk up to the window. There's a guy sitting at a desk inside. I told the guy that I have an interview for 10 am. He told me to write my name on a clipboard and wait to be called. I did as told and took a seat. I had to have waited 10 minutes before they called the next name. A guy got up and walked to go inside. I couldn't help buy see that he wasn't professionally dressed. All he had on was a yellow polo shirt, all black sneakers, baggy sagging light colored jeans and then he had the nerve to have a black tie on his polo. What a joke. That made me think about the rest of the candidates that I was up against for this job. I looked to the left and saw a female dressed like she was going to prom so I giggled a little. Her dress was nice I can admit that, but not for this occasion. She wore a red tight dress that showed cleavage. Just enough to get attention. I'm not a fashionista so I don't know female clothing terms. From her waist to her toes the dress started to expand like an umbrella. You can imagine how it looked when she sat down.
Her shoes was red pumps with a white design on the side. To my right was 2 gentlemen, 1 had on a fancy Grey suit with the whole tuxedo look. The other guy had on a black pant with a white button down shirt as if he was trying to complete a suit look but didn't have a tie or a jacket to match. Normally this would be the time that my mind would go on a journey. This time it didn't. I started to realize why, there was no reason for over thinking or overanalyzing if I was going to get the job over the other candidates because I had experience and I was well dressed. I had the whole security look down pact. As I waited to be called my mind stated to drift off to possible questions that would be asked. The questions I never liked was "why do you want this job" of course everybody wants to say because I need money to pay my bills. That's not what they want to hear, they want to see your creativity. Another question I don't like is "why do you think your a good candidate for this job" our answer would be I don't know if I would but we will never know unless you hire me. The last question is the worst of them all. The question that defeats the purpose of calling me and having an interview. "Why do you think we should hire you" I personally don't like this question. I would love to ask why am I even************************************************************
After I got hired they told me to go to (old navy) for training. I went home for a good nights rest. The next morning I woke up, showered and got ready for work. When I got to old navy I looked for Alex. He was the head security. I met with him and he took me to the office to sign in. He started to show me the camras and how they work. I had to make a key directory for the Camra so I can revert back to it if I forgot. Camras was my strong point being that ive worked on cameras surveillance before. The hardest part was remembering which direction the Camra pointed. Alex decided to take us on the floor to get a visual image of where the Camera is and what we see if its turned around. We started from the 3rd floor from Camra 1 and worked our way around the floor. We was told that if we can't see something with one Camra, then use another to cover the blind spots. We took the escalators to the 2nd floor, then took a tour around the floor to check each Camra and its angles. Just the same as the 3rd floor. We continued the same thing on the 1st floor and basement floor. When we got to the basement we walked to the loss prevention office to review the camera. As we took turns on the cameras the other guy took a walk on the floors to see if there's anything suspicious on the floor. I looked on all floors but I didn't see anything out the ordinary, that's when my trainer Alex stepped in
