I sat on my bed reading my book when my phone rang. I turned the top corner of the page and laid my book on the bedside table. I picked up my phone and pressed the 'answer' button.

"Hello?" I asked.

"A.J. it's tonight and it starts at 10." Alexia babbled.

"What does?" I inquired. Something in the back of my mind niggled at me; there was definitely something on tonight - but what?

"Shane's party!" She laughed. Then my mind clicked - I didn't have a dress or shoes or anything yet. I glanced at my clock. It was 11 A.M.

"Do we have time to shop?" I fretted immediately standing up to see what was in my wardrobe.

"Um, about two hours. Why?"

"Gah! I forgot I was invited." I groaned. I closed my closet door and flopped on my bed.

"I'll collect you and we'll go to Springsteen." She sighed, I hopped up.

"Oh my god! Thank you so much!"

"No problem. See you in ten."

"Bye." I hung up. Springsteen was the most upgraded mall in our town. I closed my eyes and drew in a long breath. I went over to my closet again and looked for a suitable outfit. I picked out knee length white shorts, an aqua top and blue converse. I heard a beep outside and ran downstairs with my bag.

"Hey!" I called and hopped into her car.

"I like this one." I said pulling a red dress with a black bow around the waist from my shopping bag.

"Red totally matches your hair." She agreed pulling her black number from her closet.

"I love that one." I said. She laughed.

"I'll go change." She skipped to her bathroom gracefully. I quickly pulled off my shorts and then my shirt; I put on the dress and adjusted the straps. I sighed and brushed my long bronze hair out. I looked at myself in her wall length mirror. My face was round, not fat, my eyes were really pale blue, my lips small and round, my hair was down to the small of my back and it was bronze with some golden highlights.

"Wow, I love that dress." I hadn't noticed Alex'd come back.

"Thanks." I grabbed my other bag and kicked off my shoes. I pulled out the shoe box and opened the lid. My red suede heels with a black diamond covered buckle lay down in the white box full of crackly tissue.

"I love these shoes so much." I sighed.

"Yeah, too bad they're a rental." She pouted. I laughed flatly and slipped them on.

"I know right." I sat in her pink fluffy chair so she could do my makeup.

After an hour we were done. She grabbed her purse and I grabbed mine. We walked downstairs and Alex handed her mom a camera. We both smiled and waited for the flash.

"Aw, you both look beautiful." Her dad said walking out with a smile painted on his face.

"Thanks dad."

"Thanks Mr. Brimmer."

"No problem girls." Mr. and Mrs. Brimmer planted a kiss on Alex's cheek as we left. They waved to us as we drove along the shiny rain watered road, my heart thumped as if that was the last time she'd ever see them. I shuddered.

"You cold?" She asked and flicked on the heater. All I could do was nod.

She pulled up outside my house ten minute later. I got out at the same time as her and we staggered up my porch steps.

"Honey!" Mom gushed giving us hugs.

"Hey mom."

"Hi Mrs. Banner." We greeted. We went up to my room so I could get my phone and stuff.

"You're sleeping over right?" Alex wondered, I nodded and grabbed a bag off the wardrobe door. I threw my camera, phone and a lip-gloss into my purse and then went to my beside table, I opened the drawer and pulled out fresh pajama bottoms, an old sweater, and clean underwear. I threw them into the shoulder bag and walked to my wardrobe.

"Will you get the perfume off my window ledge?" I asked fumbling around for skinny jeans and my new flannel shirt. When I found them I added them to my bag. I went to my bathroom and got my bag of toiletries' and make-up. I smiled at her and went to the door. She handed me the perfume, I threw that into the bag as well, and we clicked down the stairs in our heels and to the living room.

"Catch." I threw the camera to mom. She caught it and flashed a picture of us laughing. Then she took a serious one of us smiling, one of me and dad, then one of me Alex and dad, and then one of us all taken by Sean, my brother. Sean hugged me and ran back upstairs to his X-box and mom and dad waved us goodbye as we drove away again. The same feeling that I'd had leaving Alex's house crept up again. We laughed as we drove, but my heart still pumped like a maniac.

"We're here." Alex's face lit up. I threw my bag in the back beside hers. Ria ran over to us, well staggered over to us.

"Hey," She had a bag too; she opened the car door and threw it in. Alex locked the car and threw her keys into her bag.

"Let's go." We walked up to the door, and knocked. The house was huge and white, and the door was red.

"Hey," Shane opened the door. He welcomed us and sent us to a table which was crowded with people from school; we laughed and talked to the other members of our class for a while. I, as usual, got bored easily.

"Um, Ajlal, right?" A boy asked me, I turned around.

"Call me A.J." I corrected. Everyone was getting drunk by now and it was really loud.

"Oh ..." I didn't hear what he said after that. I covered my ears.

"What!?" I laughed.

"I don't know!" He mouthed. We walked over to the couch in the sitting room.

"Oh, what'd you say before?" I asked collapsing - with my punch - onto the couch.

"Oh, sorry, I'm Kellan." He repeated.

"Hi Kellan." I smiled.

"Hey. How're you?"

"Giddy- you?"
