My name's Alex and... there's something special about me.

First off, I have to ask you a question. Do you believe in The Red String of Fate?

If you do, good for you. It probably means that you have your own string that you can see.

If you don't, th-. Actually, who am I kidding, everybody believes in that stupid story because everyone has a string.

You see, I don't believe in The Red String of Fate. Never have, Never will. Shocker I know right?

It all started in 5th grade when our teacher, Mrs. Dibney, gathered us around and started to tell us the story of The Red String of Fate. Most kids didn't believe her, I mean, how could we. It was the most childish thing ever. She eventually just told us the story.

" The Red String of Fate is story that I can prove is real. At about the age of 10, you will see a red string tied to your pinky finger. " Mrs. Dibney explained " How many of you are 10 years old? " She asked.

The whole class raised their hand including me.

" Then good news for you all, YOU ALL HAVE SOULMATE!" she said with excitement.

The whole class began shouting and giggling as they talked with their friends about who they think their soulmate was.

But, then you have me...

" Umm, Mrs. Dibney? I don't have a red string. "

Everybody turned towards me and started laughing at me and talking cra- sorry, stuff about me. From that moment on, I was known as the freak. Nobody wanted to be my friends because they were scared that their red string would disappear.

So that's the special little thing about me.

5 years after that, still no string on my finger

I eventually gave up hope that a string would ever appear on my finger, so I stopped believing the stories.

I spent most of my time inside my house in my room because, well because, I didn't have any friends and if I made one, the only thing that they would do is talk about their soulmate and/or go on dates with their soulmate.
