I didn't have much control over what I was doing but I didn't care, the pot had clouded my thoughts and erased any concern I ever had.
"Hey Will, can you hand me the bowl again?" He didn't say anything just handed it to me. I then grabbed my lighter and took a long hit from the brightly colored bowl. It burned but not too badly seeing as I'm almost always high.
"Let's go Vi, I'm exhausted and I don't want to crash here with all these dumb asses." Will says to me.
"Okay just let me get some water, I've got cotton mouth so damn badly." I got up from the couch and ran to the kitchen to grab a bottled water. When I open the fridge I don't find what I'm looking for so I ask Jenny, the girl throwing the party, where some is. She told me they were in one of the cabinets so I went looking for them. Once I found them I grabbed one and headed to the car with Will.
Will and I have been best friends for almost two hole years now. We've tried dating but it was just too akward for me. I've been through a lot in these past two years and he's been there for me every step of the way. It helps me want to stay alive, because honestly, if he weren't in my life, I don't think I would still be here.
"So Vi, do you want me to drop you off at your house or would you like to spend the night at mine?"
"Uhh yeah man, just drop me off at mine, I'll be fine for the night." He drove ten more minutes and then pulled into my driveway. I told him bye and then walked inside of my house.
What I saw left me speechless, breathless, shocked, terrified, every single horrible feeling I could ever have. It had been a a good hour since I last smoked so I was no longer high which allowed me the dread of feeling every ounce of terror that consumed me. I had walked in unnoticed and I was too scared to become noticed so I ran back out my front door. I was hyperventilating and you could probably hear me breathing from the next street over but I didn't care. I just had to get out.
I ran across the street to one of my neighbor's houses and knocked on the door. I hadn't ever seen anyone outside of the house so I didn't know just exactly who I would be greeted by once the door opened but I knew whoever it was and whatever they did, had to be better than what I just witnessed. With that thought the door opened widely.
"Hello uhm can I help you?" The man who opened the door asked. I was still hyperventilating and in shock so it was hard for me to speak.
"I jus...my name...is..Violet....may I ple...please...come in....i need....safety." I said gasping for air every few words. The man looked very confused but stood back while opening the door more and holding out his arm as if to say "come in". So I did.
