"B-But Pine! It's not safe so near the water! What if there is a flood like Fire said?!" A small lynx patterned cat exclaimed. The older, ginger cat responded in a calm voice, "Soka we will be fine. Fire is elderly. Her mind doesn't work great anymore."
Soka, the smaller female, snorted at his response, "Fine! But don't let me tell you I told you so!" She turned and trotted from the den. Pine sighed and laid down. Grunting a bit, "She has kits. She has a right to be worried." Came a soft voice. The owner of that soft voice trotted into the light, an elder looking black and white cat.
Pine looked up and her, "Fire. Is it true what you said? About a flood?" The elderly female gently shook her head "Only time shall tell. I have to go. It's about my time." Fire turned and left the den. Pine let out a small sigh.
[I]A Few Moons Later
Kits scampered from the nursery after hearing a leader's call.
Willow squeaked to Callie in excitement, "We finally get to be apprentice! 7 moons were so long!" Callie giggled in return, "It wasn't that long!" The two sisters settled next to Twister as Pine began to speak.
"Today is an eventful day. Callie, Willow, Twister, and Twig have all reached the age to become an apprentice. Callie and Twig. From this day forward you will be training under the watchful eye of Tobi. Willow and Twister you'll be trained by Laci." He nodded to the mentors before a loud crash of thunder was heard, "Everyone please stay in the dens till this ends." Pine jumped down into his den.
The group of cats split up into different dens they belonged to. Loud noises could be heard from outside of the den as each cat tried to sleep past it. Waves crashed against the edge of the camp.
