"The gust crept into the room as the window rattled with anger." Lukas Williams said to his sister Brianna (Bri). Bri and Lukas were telling scary stories about their old rickety house. Bri told Lukas a story about their broken heater that screams with terror on May 29. Bri told him that you have to be out of the house by 11:59 or else the heater will scream and your ears will be scarred.
Their mom Cynthia walked in and told them it was time for dinner. At dinner, Lukas told his dad, Frank, about the "ferocious window" as Bri called it. Frank mouthed some words to Cynthia. Cynthia told Bri that the so-called story was actually true. Frank said that the heater can scar your ears but it hasn't happened before. Lukas is interested in science so he wondered if he could try the experiment. Lukas proposed the idea to his mother and father and they said sure.
