That was seven years ago. Raven is now seventeen. The contract that her mother and Montgomery senior agreed upon didn't go into effect until Raven was fourteen years three months and nine days of age. The state of Michigan unleashed a full investigation on the science building of biological experimentation due to the mysterious circumstance of the Jones' deaths.

The investigation took only two years. It took Montgomery another two years to gain custody of Raven due to paperwork and evidence coming up that would put him in a guilty situation. It also just happened to work out in Montgomery Senior's hand due to the fact that Raven's last living relative passed away three months after Raven's thirteenth birthday.

While Raven was a child of the state, she was only allowed to have a select few items. They allowed her pictures of her, her sister, her mother, her step-father, and her real father. No other pictures were allowed because it was thought that they took up too much space. She was also only allowed two stuffed animals, so she took a small worn panda bear her biological father gave her and a stuffed bunny that happened to be her sisters.

She was, however, allowed to keep all her clothes, which mostly consisted of oversized band shirts, black jeans, and sweatshirts. During her four years of foster care, she had been through eight foster families in the state of Michigan. Well, nine if you count the one where she stayed one night while they found her a placement.

The day she was brought to the Montgomery's residence, it was at the facility because they lived there in their own wing of the science building, along with other employees who lived there. She arrived with little to no memory of the building in front of her, probably due to the fact that she was ten when she was first introduced to it and the fact that she suffered a head trauma in the car accident.

When she was brought inside the lab she was introduced to a much older Montgomery Montgomery Senior, and a more handsome Montgomery Montgomery Jr. The first thing she was shown was her living courters. She got her own apartment in the employee living wing. The apartment was fully furnished and had a bedroom undecorated with a bed, two bookshelves, and a desk. She had a living room with a singular couch and tv stand with a tv. In the kitchen, she had full countertops and shelves going to the ceiling along with a fridge.

And for a fourteen-year-old she was happy, to say the least, with the arrangements. Not only did she get her own apartment but an allowance of $1,000 a month.

Her first week with living at the facility was rocky, to say the least. She was stepping on eggshells around the science members because she was so new, as they were her. After the first week, Montgomery Sr. could wait no longer and asked his lawyer to come up with yet another documentation stating that they, Montgomery Montgomery Sr. and Montgomery Montgomery Jr., could experiment on the subject, Raven Jones.

When this was explained to her, both Montgomery's described the experimentation to be mostly blood work and the sort, so of course, she agreed and signed. She had wanted them to like her and to be accepted into this hopefully permanent place that she could grow to call home.

Her first year in the science facility was spent mostly in discomfort. She had three blood tests a week, weight examinations, different food diets, and restrictions, blood pressure checks before; after; and during bed. She was also given full-body examinations once a month.

Within her first month, new discoveries were made. Her body's immune system reacted differently than a human's immune system. Her white blood cells reproduced at a much more rapid pace than regular human's causing very harmful diseases and viruses to have little to no effect on her body. She was also too bony, her body had a few too many bones around her body than a regular human. But not an extra toe or finger, they discovered an extra vertebra on her spinal cord specifically designed to help prevent spinal injuries that could cause paraplegia.

It was also discovered that when she has human on human contact, she can sometimes experience a very strong memory from that person or severe mental anguish. This discovery was specifically further examined because they wanted to test if certain people triggered this response. It was found that two types of people triggered this response. People she was in close relationship with or people who were in extreme mental anguish at the time of being touched.

By the time Raven reached her seventeenth birthday she had experienced: bone transplants, medical steroids that enhanced speed; intelligence; and agility, along with other skin on skin contact. The more they experimented on her skin to skin contact with another human being the more they discovered. It was found that if she were to be touched in a certain spot she could pass out, or experience extreme pain in others, or on the rarest of occasions she could experience a memory of theirs. And as she grew her resistance disappeared.

As Raven grew older so did her personality. She grew into a hard rock, music-loving, sarcastic commenting, queen. Although she is indeed shy, and prefers to stay inside rather than out, she adores an adventure that she usually finds in books.

Not only did her personality grow but so did her rebellion. It grew faster than most due to the fact that she was so heavily guarded and watched around the facility. She didn't have just one overbearing parent, she had several. And as a form of rebellion, she sneaks out of her window to do something so outrageously dangerous that the adrenaline lingers for hours.

For example, when she was fifteen, she snuck out for the first time. Her heart was thundering harder than she thought it would. It took her all but three minutes to come up with a plan. She climbed out of her window using bedsheets than ran down the streets towards the nearest bus station.

The adrenaline was practically pulsing through her veins. She rode the bus all the way to the northern part of Michigan where the nearest tattoo parlor was. She had her fake ID along with fifteen hundred dollars in cash to pay for at least one tattoo and a nose piercing.

She still hadn't decided if she was still going to go through with it, but she had. She got the phrase "Always in my mind. Forever in my heart." With three birds two bigger than the third, with the date of the crash on her shoulder. The tattoo had made her smile and the adrenaline was replaced with sadness.

The tattoo artist gave only a second of hesitance before finally giving in. Then, she was given a small stud on the left side of her nose, before she took her leave after paying. Her shoulder had stung and was bright red with irritation. She had adored the constant sting; it was a reminder.

With the extra cash she had, she walked to a twenty-four-hour diner and ordered a chocolate malt with a side of fries. She ate them before calling Montgomery Sr. to come pick her up. Thus, ending her first night of rebellion with a long lecture she only half-listened to.

That wasn't the only time she had snuck out. She had gone several times, and came back with cartilage piercings, belly button piercing, industrials, and lots of tattoos.

And one night while Raven was nearing her seventeenth birthday and the beginning of yet another homeschooled year, she overheard a conversation between both Montgomery's about a social experiment she would have to participate in, to test her levels of stress. Granted when she was listening to this conversation, she had awoken from her position on the couch in her living room, and was clearly eavesdropping, and they weren't exactly being quiet so it wasn't difficult.

And due to the unsettling conversation, she had overheard she couldn't get sleep to come to her, so she had to resort to drastic measures: music. She figured that some good Theory of a Deadman should do the trick. And that was what allowed her to fall asleep, with the beaming moon on her face.
