"Lisa, have you had anything for breakfast" I heard my mom shouting from the ground floor of our 3-storeyed house. "Yes" I quickly replied before getting myself busy in my work again.
Our summer break had started a week back and though we had got every kind of assignments possible, I had finished them all. This was basically because I would have nothing to do throughout the day and would always end up spending time completing the assignment. Now, all that worries me is how am I going to spend the rest of the 2 days when I’m done completing these. Maybe just spending some quality time with some new books seems to be a good idea.
I completed all my work that included cleaning all my drawers, dusting my shelves and eventually going in for a shower. Within no time I was out of my shower, draped in nothing but my soft little pink towel. I put on my baggy beige shorts along with a pink summer top and braided my hair into a fishtail. Not to forget the necessity of my life, I quickly slipped on my black geeky specs onto my little brown orbs and trotted down the stairs.
The town library wasn’t too far from our place, so a walk was always more preferable to me, but as if I really did have a car for my own. Just to put it in simple words, my family couldn’t really afford getting each of us a separate car. As soon as I stepped out of my place, I realized the temperature was rising quite higher, higher than what I expected it to be. Brushing the sweat off my forehead, I started to take my walk towards the library.
It was just about 5 minutes and I had already reached the town library. It wasn’t a very big, spacious one with racks filled with million of books, but a small peaceful one with all the books necessary, something my way. I entered the library and the librarian out there greeted me with a smile. I was one of their regular visitors and seeing my keen interest in books, she slowly grew a little fond of me. Smiling back at her, I went up till the Teenage fictional section and started going through the books.
I had already seen 3 books based upon science fiction but nothing seemed to be that appealing enough to me. This was probably the 4th book I was taking off the shelf and this time I really did hope this had something sort of realistic within it. But to my utter disappointment, it turned out be a love story, that too a cheesy one. Putting it back to its back, I turned around to try the adults corner, but BANG, I just bumped into someone dropping all the book that person had in his hand.
"Im sorry" I muttered feeling extremely bad. Before that guy could actually turn around, I changed my direction and started walking the other way. I wasn’t really social and it was just weird to see someone inside the town library during the summer break, of course leaving apart me, and these new voices just kind of terrified me. AS if I was going to have a new name added to my bullies list. " Hey listen " He called out for me but I didn’t want to meet him so I continued walking. I was always afraid of facing people, especially guys, because I really lacked the confidence to actually have an intact conversation with anyone, my fear coming all the way round. But before I could actually get away from him, he came and stood infront of me. "Hi" He said looking at me. My shyness was eating me from within and I had gone all pale. "Hi" I just muttered staring the floor. But as soon as my sight caught a free passage on my left I started walking towards. "Hey girlie, stop" He called out for the second time. Not exactly calling out, but this time he literally shouted. I got scared in an instant and remained all still in my place. He came ahead of me and took my hand in for a handshake. This was maybe actually the first time I looked up at him and surprisingly the guy didnt seem to look like any of the bad ones I see at school. He was a clean shaved guy, with slightly long brown hair and a pair of geeky specs, very similar to the ones I own. " Hi, I’m Jaden, Nice to meet you. And I’m sorry for just banging into you like that. But since it was your fault, Could I have a compensation for it?" He asked looking at me, still holding my hands. I snatched back my hand and blindly stood there staring at him. "I mean just show me around the library as a compensation. You see I’m new here" he added giving me a sigh of relief. For a moment I actually thought he wanted some huge amount of money or shit, but this additional speech definitely did make me feel lighter. I simple nodded in acceptance.
I showed him the entire library in just about 30 minutes I guess. Explaining each rack, with the good authors and good books made him feel impressed by me I guess. And this someway did help me also since I actually realized I knew almost every corner of this place. After I was done with showing him the entire room, he thanked me and I simply smiled. Lending my books quickly, I left the place, since it was getting a little dark.
If on my way back I could think of anything, it was the guy I had met in the library. Probably it was the first time I had actually spoken to a guy so much, just after my professor, or family for that matter, and it didn’t feel bad, but I nice feeling had developed within me. Maybe I did really make a fool out of myself infront of him, but he seemed to be a really nice guy, a very different one indeed. He was neither loud, nor any of the showbiz kinds, just a simple guy who had a similar thought process similar to that of mine. Maybe, maybe I had just found my new first new friend in this city.
