Jordan and Jessica had been together, in a committed relationship, a whole year. And in the end her packing her bags to move back home with her mom was the first time he ever felt things couldnt be mended between them.
He watched as she struggled to get the last remaining items into her suitcase. A backpage with all her artwork wasnt fitting due to all her clothes.
"I can get that for you, looks like its givin u some trouble." he said forcing a smile.
"Thanks." she said back with a laugh.
She watched him carefully muscle her backpack into the suitcase. Wondering if he felt like her. The weirdness of the whole situation. The way a year ended when it had so much promise of years to go in the future.
"Got it." He said in a excited voice like he had just done the impossible. It had snapped me out my daze.
"Thanks again guess you somewhat strong." She giggles trying to lighten the situation.
"Still got jokes." He laughs back.
He would have unpacked her suitcase any other time but this was different their relationship was over. After catching those text messages in her phone he knew it was done. No amount of her begging him was going to change that. She had even told him that she never fucked the guy. Did he believe her? Yes. But cheating is cheating and he knew from the way they were flirting in the messages something would have happened sooner or later sexually between them.
He couldnt totally blame her. He hadn't been the best boyfriend in the world. He spoiled her, kept the bills paid and didnt cheat. Thinking that was all he really had to do to keep a woman happy. But it was the attention he started neglecting from her. The sweet texts and long paragraphs that stopped being sent. The out of no where kisses he would give her. The love in his eyes faded, the ones that she could see when he looked at her. They sex life which started off amazing had died down as well. She use to always ask him 'who you fucking because it ain't me.' They always seemed to argue alot lately before the breakup and for no reason.
"Are you ok." She ask. Waking me out of my daydream.
"Oh yeah." I laugh
"Was over here thinking about where I should go this weekend." He lied. But smiled to conceal it
"Oh...hope you have fun. Turn up for me." She said smiling back.
She didn't say anything but she was hoping he was thinking about her. She knew it was her fault this was even happening. She had been texting a guy from her job, Alan. It started off harmless a few flirts here and there but after awhile he became the guy Jordan was in the beginning of their relationship. She craved it more than anything. She knew Jordan was the one she wanted to be with but the way Alan made her feel started to take control. She even changed Alan's name in her phone to Ashley so whenever he texted and Jordan was on her phone he wouldn't get suspicious. Even though no sex was involved she knew she was cheating. Jordan had been livid that night of finding out. She hated how she couldn't fix it she hated the feelings she had for 2 guys when she only loved 1. But more than anything she hated that she never spoke up and told Jordan how she had been feeling. How she felt as if the love between them were fading. She hated how she gave up on the best thing she ever had in life and the little amount of fight she put up to stop the love from leaving.
Beep! Beep! The sound of the taxi honking his horn.
He walks her to the door carrying the heaviest suitcase. They dont say a word. Even as he puts her belongings in the trunk. He walks away getting to the steps of his porch as she is about to get in.
"Wait!" She yelled.
He turns around heart jumping, racing. All these emotions made him realize that he still had some feelings for her. But he wouldnt admit it his pride was to big to tell her that. To tell anyone.
"Everything ok." He ask.
"Yeah...kinda...I just wanted to give this back." She says. Fumbling around on her wrist then it finally hits him. It's the first ever gift he bought her the forever bracelet.
She gets it off and runs to him. Clutches the bracelet in his hand and for the last time says "I'm sorry for everything." She hugs him then runs to the taxi.
Jordan stays outside same position near the foot of the steps clutching the bracelet. Flooded with so many emotions. As he look at the taxi leaving he knows without a doubt this will be the last time he ever sees her again this is the end.
As the taxi get further and further away adding more and more distance between eachother. Jordan finally let his tears drop. Jessica hasnt stopped crying since she got in the taxi. Both cry for what could of been. The promised marriage. The promised kids they both wanted to have. The promised forever that only lasted a year. Both knew that just because the relationship ended didnt mean the feelings did and the crying was proof.
Even though this is the end for them it's also the beginning for them. God always put people in our life and when they served their purpose and taught us what we needed to know to be a better person a better man and woman he removes them and gives you someone else. That someone else ends up being someone we become a better person for.
Jordan learned to be a better man. He learned that more go into a relationship than just spoiling a woman he has to do everything he did in the beginning to keep his woman happy the text, the random kisses, the love has to still be there in his eyes. Once he does that her job is to give him the same love he is giving to her. All a woman need is to be loved.
Jessica learned to be a better woman. She learned that in a relationship speaking up is better than not saying anything at all. She learned that running to another guy wont make her feel better when the one she really wants just needs to hear from her that things are falling apart. Once she speaks up his job is to work with her on fixing it. All a man need is to be talked to.
Communication and Love is key to a successful relationship. What one lacks the other is strong and vise versa. Not every relationship ends the way Jordan and Jessica did. Some can work through it and have that forever after with both gaining communication and love. Some cant and must find that with another person. But it's never the end of your love life always the beginning. We all have our happily ever after it just takes time to find him or her. We all deserve love and one day you'll get it.
