Lost voice
Or a whispering breeze.
I listened trying to comprehend.
Seven years dead,
I can still hear her.
The baleful image of her face
Continues to haunt me.
Lost voice
Drifts amid the darkness,
And in through my open window,
At night while I try to sleep.
Confused, my emotions betray me.
Sorrow makes a fleeting appearance,
Turning quickly to fear.
Lost voice
Speaks softly ever nearer.
Memories come flooding back,
Haunting me from
Beyond the grave.
Of that night so long ago.
The night my sweet love died.
Lost voice
Caresses my face.
Panic seizes my lungs.
My chest aches.
I tried to stop her.
She just wouldn't listen.
She never looked back.
Lost voice
Kisses my neck.
My blood freezes,
Turning my heart to ice.
Come back my love,
I called to her that night.
But she laughed and walked away.
Lost voice
Finds my ear,
Whispering ever gently
Words seven years coming.
I watched her leave,
Laughing at my humiliation.
She was such a bitch.
Lost voice
Whispers words of revenge,
And of death.
My frozen heart stops,
Just as her's did
When I killed her
Seven years ago tonight.
