~The Time That She Lost~

~~chapter three~~

"So what are you doing here?" Emily asked him.

"Just came for a jog" Sam told her.

"Oh me too" Emily told him too.

"Okay" Sam said shaking his head in up and down movement. Awkwardness was about to rise when____.

"You wanna join me?" Emily asked him in formality. Deeply wishing he says yes.

"Yaa sure" Sam agreed not even thinking for a second. They started jogging.

"So what are you listening to" Sam asked seeing her ear phones.

"Sorry what?" Emily asked him confused.

"Song which you are listening to right now" Sam said and shoot a look towards the earphone.

"Oh these" Emily said and was about to laugh.

"What is funny?" Sam asked suspicious.

"Actually nothing" Emily answering the questions.

"Oh okay" Sam said misunderstanding her nothing. He went quite.

"Oh no no I meant I was listening to nothing" Emily understood his quietness.

"Ohh" sam said revealed. "Wait what?" Sam asked realising her answer was wierd.

"I knew that was coming" Emily said snickering. "Actually I wear them to fool people" Emily confessed.

"Why?" Sam asked curiously.

"Actually everybody in the neighborhood is so willing to know how I am, I have moved on, they haven't" Emily explained her actions. Weird actions.

"Well not getting it" Sam told her confused.

"The accident" Emily said. And she knew that was enough for the explanation.

"Ohh that" Sam said. Again they both were silent, focusing on the jog. They jogged and jogged. Suddenly Emily looked at him and starting staring at him.

"What?" Sam asked and cooked his head to the side.

"You wanna race?" Emily asked.

"Race?" Sam asked her.

"Yaa till my house" Emily told.

"Yaa sure" Sam said and as soon as she agreed to race Emily started running. Sam stood dumstrucked.

"What?" Sam asked her with louder voice as soon as he understood what was happening.

"Race has started, run Sam" Emily said laughing.

"Oh is it? I am gonna catch you baby" Sam said and started running.

"Let's see" Emily challenged.

They both race as fast as they could. Sam was easily able to catch Emily, infact he took the lead as well. Emily tried to gave him a tough competition but couldn't. They ran, ran and ran. Whenever Emily came near sam, Emily raised her eyebrows showing him that she can beat him. But he used to pace up and took the lead again and everytime he took the lead Emily was disappointed. When they were about to reach emily's home, Sam looked back while running to see where Emily was. He saw that Emily was no more running instead her back was towards him. He stopped and cooked his head to the side to see that she was bent downwards and was talking to a small girl, who was about 2 or 3 years. Sam walked back to her. But stood 10 steps behind her so that he doesn't disturb them.

Emily took the girl in her arms and kissed her cheeks. She said something to her which made her laugh. There was a women standing beside them, who was her mother. Unknowingly Sam had a smile on his face. He stood there looking at her without saying anything. He realised he was smiling and felt strange about it, so he shooked off the smile. Emily looked at him and walked towards him, still with the girl in her arms.

"Hey you stopped" Emily said to sam.

"Ya I shouldn't have because we were ment to race till your house" Sam said teasing her.

"You are so competitive" Emily pointed. Sam stood still and froze for a reason. Emily was confused to see his reaction. Emily looked at him quietly seeing him smile for a moment and then having a serious face.

"Have I said something wrong?" Emily asked him breaking the silence.

"No no" Sam said quickly , coming back to the real world.

"Then what was that?" Emily asked still not clear what happened.

"Oh just a memory form past" Sam told her.

"Interesting" Emily commented.

Sam ignored her comment and asked about the girl in her arms. Emily told him she used to babysit the girl when the girl was months old.

"Take her" Emily told him.

Sam had a sudden worried look on his face. Emily saw it and knew what was this worried look for. She controlled but couldn't. She laughed. Sam was amazed to see her.

"Take her, she is not a bomb or something" Emily said still laughing.

"No I am good" Sam said awkwardly.

"Okay I won't force you" Emily said still laughing. She turned back and suddenly turned towards him and stretched her arms towards him so that the baby was close to him. The girls was a inch away from him. He got scared and Emily laughed again.

"Sorry" Emily said laughing and was actually not sorry for what she did.

"She ain't a bomb or hot piece of ball" Emily said sarcastically with a smirk on her face while keeping the baby down.

"What if I crush her?" Sam asked worried. Emily looked at his face for a minute. She looked at his worried and scared face for a minute and then busted out. She laughed as loud as she could. Tears rolled down her eyes. She sat down on the floor with her legs crossed and hands on her stomach. Sam crossed his arms and shook his head with a tiny little smile on his face. He moved his hand forward, towards her. She made the baby stand on the floor. The baby walked towards her mother.

"Okay Laughing Buddha get up" Sam said motioning his hand towards her. Emily gave her hand to him and Sam pulled her up.

"Ya ya laugh at me" Sam said lazily.

"You are afraid of kids" Emily said still laughing.

"Okay go and brag about it, Sam is afraid of kids" Sam said mimicking her line said before.

"Hey I don't speaking like that" Emily said. Punching him on his shoulder.

"Oh ya you do" Sam disagreed.

They both started walking to her house. Emily looked back and waved at the kid and the mother.

"No I don't" Emily argued.

"Okay missy" Sam said putting his hands in surrender.

"Missy?" Emily said with a lame face.

"That's my way of saying miss" Sam said raising both his eyebrows.

"Okay" Emily said with a smile and her hands in surrender.

They walked to Emily's house. They had a quiet walk. They did pass smiles but they said nothing. They reached her house after five minutes. Emily turned towards Sam.

"You wanna stay for breakfast?" Emily asked him.

"Umm no I need to do something at home" Sam rejected.

"Okay" Emily said. Putting her hair behind her ears and marched towards the house

"Nice to talk to you by the way" Sam called.

"Yaa same here" Emily said with a smile and continued climbing up the stairs. Sam waited for her to go in. Emily suddenly stood froze. With her eyes wide open. Sam was confused thinking why she had stopped. He couldn't see her stoned look.

Why is she not going in? Sam thought.
