thin air hovers over the evening
like a softly exhaled breath
the street lamps douse the roads in oil-painted gold
painting amber shadows under the palely watered clouds
spilling out the acrylic colours of the wind
and the gold-paved roads start to look lonely
as dusk turns to dark
and the evening sky has taught me that you can make poetry out of thin air
