"Kassey wait up!" Stacy yelled behind me. "We are already late we are gonna miss the game." I yell back. I am practically running since I had already missed the kick off. "Kassey, please stop! I need to catch my breath." I turn to tell her to keep up when run straight into what felt like a brick wall. I stumble back slightly but a pair of strong, muscular arms catch me. "Oh my god, I'm sorry." I say looking into stormy grey eyes. Immediately I'm entranced. We just stare at each other before he breaks the silence. "Don't worry about it doll." He whispers with a smug grin and then winks at me. Of course, he is that kind of guy. I pull myself away shaking my head to clear the spell I was clearly just under. Stacy catches up to me. "Oh hello." She says bowing her head slightly trying to catch her breath. She isn't shy normally I'm not sure why he would make her shy. I apologize again before walking away from them.
I make it to the stands and take a seat next to my younger brother, Jack. "So has Daniel played yet?" I ask taking a sip from his Gatorade. "Nope." He says popping the p. I nod and pay attention to my older brother on the field.
Stacy appears at my side with a wide smile on her face just as Daniel scores a touchdown. Jack and I jump up yelling at the top of our longs. After we calmed down, I turn to Stacy, "okay, what's got you so riled up?" I laugh at her. "That boy you ran in to, literally, gave me his number for you." She said and her smile widened. "I don't want it." I curtly say turning my attention back to the game. "that's okay I gave him your number just in case." Jack busts up laughing. I turn to Stacy, shocked. Thunder claps in the distance. Jack immediately stops laughing. "Why would you do that?" I question still shocked. She freezes and stammers out, "I didn't have a choice. He is my alpha." She whispers the last part. Stacy stays quiet the rest of the half.
Still shocked I turn back to the game. I can't really be mad at her. She can't defy her alpha without serious consequences. I can't wrap my head around why he wanted my number though. I'm not a wolf. It's completely unheard of for wolves to date outside of their own kind. Mostly because they have soulmates. Someone the moon goddess hand picks for them. I am almost jealous. They are the only species to have soulmates. I wish I could find my perfect match but us witches and wiccan aren't so lucky. Most of us marry for power and to protect our covens. Hardly ever do we marry for love.
At half time she and I go to get some food and drinks for Jack and me since we were yelling at the players and officials the whole time. "Kassey I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just given out your number like that. He seemed really hurt when you just walked off. Like you where his mate ignoring him." She said and her face lit up with realization. "Don't even say it. I can't have a mate Stacy I'm a witch not a wolf." I whisper to her more trying to convince myself than her. Wolves couldn't deny the existence of mates. "Right but the only people that know you are a witch are your family and me. Besides it isn't in our control whom our mates are; and he is an alpha. A powerful one at that. Maybe she is just trying to end this feud between the races. Yours is the only coven I've ever heard of that didn't grow up in a cult, and tolerates wolves." She rambles getting more excited as she told me.
"Shut up Stacy, no one can know that you know anything. Especially since you're a wolf." She finally stops talking and nods realizing I'm right. "Right." she says as we enter the line for concessions. We are quiet for a few moments and Stacy rocks on her heels. "Fine, tell me about wolf boy." I say with a sigh. She squeals with excitement. "His name is Alpha Sanderson Blake. He is the oldest of three boys. He is 19." I grab her arm and look at her like she is crazy. "What do you mean he's 19?" she looks at me confused. "He's 19. what is the problem?" I stop in our tracks. "My mother will kill me." She rolls her eyes and pulls me forward. "it's fine if you are his mate your mom will have to get over it." She says shrugging her shoulders. We order our food and then head back up to the stands.
