Cold. That's what I felt when I woke up. I was shivering under the thin sheet I had for a blanket. For some odd reason my bedroom was colder than the rest of the house even though it was half way through August. I got up and checked to see what the time was. 6:30 a.m. I threw my phone on my untidy bed and went to one of the boxes in the floor, hoping I'd find an outfit that was decent enough to wear for the first day of going to my new school. I found a purple blouse with a white knot sweater to wear over it and grabbed a pair of skinny jeans from the box next to it and changed. I moved box after box and found the socks. I looked around for the box that had my shoes, but was no where to be found. I opened my door for the first time since I woke up and realized everyone else was up. "Oh good, I thought you slipped into a coma" mom said looking up from searching in the hallway closet. "Have you already lost something?" I asked.

"No, I'm trying to find the box with all of our shoes" she said. We then heard the front door open. "Vincent, is that you?" Mom called out. "Yeah, it's me" he said letting out an exasperated sigh. "I walked to the living room to see him struggle with the box that had 'shoes' written across it.

"You know big brother, you should be able to carry that with little to no effort" I said. "Says you. I don't see you lifting weights every day" he said with a smile. That smile brought me back to when mom and dad first told us we were moving across multiple states. Vincent and I were sitting at the kitchen table. He was helping me with math homework. "You know I don't see how you can be related to me if you can't even figure out this one math problem" he said smiling. The smile that made me remember this moment. It wasn't a smile that told you someone said something funny. It was a smile that said I'm happy in this moment and I couldn't ask for a better life. That was until mom and dad came home. "Kids?" Mom called. "In here mom!" Vincent replied. They both walked in with smiles on their faces.

"Vincent, Abella, we have amazing news" dad said. Please tell me it's a better math tutor" I joked. "Even better. We're moving!" Mom exclaimed. "Moving?!" And that was the last word I could get out of the argument. I was brought out of my day dream to the sound of my Dad. "Abe, did you hear me?" He asked. I looked up at him and smiled. "Sorry Daddy, was in a daydream. What was your question?" I asked. "Did you want a ride to school?" He asked. I realized he was already dressed for work, in his jumpsuit and already had his work hat on his head. "I was gonna drive myself to school for the first day. Not to be rude or anything, but I don't want anyone assuming who I am and what my personality is" I said.

"They can get all of that just by your dad dropping you off at your new school?" He questioned. "I don't know how this school will be, and I'd rather not chance it. Besides, you need to get to work or you'll be late. I can get Vincent to drive me." I said. Vincent and I are only a year and few months apart. I'm in my junior year and he's a senior. "Okay, well I'll see you when I get home then. I love you." He said walking out the front door. I sighed and realized there was one person I hadn't seen today. Toby. I walked past Vincent into the hallway and sprinted up the stairs into the bedroom to the left. I flipped the light on and smiled greatly. My baby brother was still curled up sucking on his thumb fast asleep. I walked over and brushed the small amount of hair he had from his eyes. Toby is nine months, and he's already so big. "Toby, it's time to get up" I whispered. He wiggled a little and opened his eyes. "Hey sweet thing. It's time to get up, you're going to the babysitter" I said. He sat up and reached his hands out to me. I lifted him out of his crib and placed him on my hip. I took the stairs carefully, holding toby in my left and my right arm carried his diaper bag. "Mom, Toby's up" I said.

She walked around the corner and smiled, making Toby smile. "What's my baby boy doing up so early?" She squeaked.

I checked my phone for the first time since I woke up and realized I was running late for school. The time was 7:45. "Vincent, we're gonna be late for school!" I shouted. "Vincent already left for school" mom said. "What?! He was my ride! Can you take me? I'm gonna be super late if I walk" I said. "Alright, let's get in the car then" mom said.
