Stellaluna's POV

Jamie stood behind me with a gun, and a twisted grin on his face.

"I always keep my promises, don't I Princess?" he slurred.

I tried backing away, but was meet with the corner of the allyway, Jamie took a step closer to me and the pistol in his hand shook, he walked in a crooked line, a result of his drunkenness. Each step he made, his boots hit the pavement with a dull thud.

his steps sent shudders through my body, once when I shuddered, I thought I felt the wall move. Maybe it was all the blood loss, I looked up and saw that It was not infact a wall, but the blond boy. I did not notice him come back.

Looking for Louis, I found him where I never thought he would be. He had Jamie on the ground, pinned down, and was wrestling with him.

This confused me because Louis left me, he didn't care, he left me with my mum, and he let her beat me, he let Jamie beat me, so why was he tackling him? Why would he do that for me?

Those thoughts vanished when a gunshot rang out, and a body slumped to the ground.

Louis' body.

As he fell to the ground, Jamie stood up, And laughed. He Laughed. It wasn't a low chuckle, but a phycotic cackle.

I felt the blond boy start to move from behind me and run to Louis. He ripped Louis' pant leg to see the leg bleeding profusely. while the blond boy was tending to my brother, Jamie took the chance to walk closer to me, still laughing.

I was so out of breath, so tired, and sitting in a pool of my own blood as he walked toward me, picked me up bridal style. It was almost like he was trying not to hurt me, then he threw me down, and kicked me in the side that the knife was not in.

" I hope my promise is kept, and you lay here until you bleed out, and die bitch, because I would hate to break a promise." He sneered.

He kicked me one more time, before turning on his heel and begining to walk away.

As exausted and in pain as I was, I wouldn't let him win this time.

I pulled myself off the ground, and started to follow him, he only got a few steps before I caught up to him. I pulled the knife out of my side, fast like a band-aid, and with a scream, I plunged it into his back, we both fell to the ground, and as his eyes rolled back into his head, I started to wheeze.

The blond boy ran over to me, with Louis limping closley behind.

The boy scooped me into his arms like Jamie had moments before, and I gave up my will to fight, and let the darkness over take me as he started to run on the direction of loud blaring sirens.

** at the hospital**

Louis' POV

After getting my leg bandeged up, I sat in the waiting room with my shoulders shaking as loud animalistic sobs racked my body.

Why did this happen to her?

Would she survive?

Who was that man?

The doctor came out of her room, to talk to me.

"would you like to know her injuries?" he asked in a boered tone.

"Yes sir." I managed to croak out.

"Well the stab wound Punctured her right lung and there is a large gash in it, it will be very hard for her to breathe, and she will most likely be using a cannula for the rest of her life if she pulls through this. She also has three broken ribs on her left side from what looks to be kicks. There was a hemmorage in her brain, and the pressue had to be releaved by surgery, so we had to shave her head..."  He said noncholantly.

"Is she going to pull through!?!" I screamed.

"I wasn't done." he huffed in annoyance, " She also has what look to be fingerprint buises on he inner thighs and her hips, this is an indication of sexual assault. She is now in a coma. The chances of her pulling through are very slim with all of these injuries, so don't get your hopes up. I have other patients to see, so I need to go." then he left.

Alone with my thoughts, I slid my back down the front of her hospital room door, and asked myself one thing.

Why?
