Alice Cooper woke up next to her husband, Hal Cooper. She always whispered good morning but never got a response then everyday she shrugs it off and goes to shower. She can't hear her daughter Betty in her room next door humming along to the music she was playing on her phone.
She thought her life was wonderful perfect house, daughters, job, everything she did was perfection. Sometimes what comes across as perfection isn't at all what it seems.
Alice hopped out of the shower changed it to her clothes and went downstairs to make breakfast for her family before they left for work and school.
"Morning Mom." Betty said while carrying down her bag and extra text books. "I've got that chemistry test today and can't fit all my books in I don't suppose you have a spare bag, do you?" She looked to see if she could find her old handbag but it was no where to be seen.
"Sorry Betty I must have thrown my old one out, is jughead walking to school with you? Maybe he could put some in his bag."
"Ahh yes I will ask him! By the way can I ask what you and dad were arguing over again last night?" Alice pretended she didn't hear Betty and carried on with making breakfast. "Mom?" She look up to see Betty waiting for an answer. Alice was hesitant to say anything.
The door bell rang, and a look of relief spread across her face.
"Don't worry it was nothing just a silly little thing, anyway that must be jughead. I'll see you later Betty." Betty shook her head because she didn't understand why all the secrecy, she went to the door to see jughead was stood waiting for her.
"Hey Betty, you okay?" He could see in her face she wasn't in a very good mood. She walked out the door and closed it behind her.
"Moms acting strange there is just a whole negative atmosphere in the house, my parents are constantly arguing I hear them every night!" He put his arm around her as they began to walk to school. "I mean it could be that I'm overreacting but I feel a tension between them even at the dinner table and mom is trying so hard to make everything normal."
"All parents fight Betty it's probably over something stupid." Jughead could see how concerned she was over her parents arguing. "How about I let my dad know and he could go over to speak to your mom and see if everything's okay." Betty nodded her head.
"Thanks jug!"
Alice and FP have known each other since high school and both grew up in the serpents which is a gang on the south side in Riverdale. They were good friends when they were young but the friendship drifted when Alice met Hal and in her early adulthood. Alice moved from the south side and got married to Hal, they seemed perfect together, so in love and had two daughters by the time she was in her mid 20s.
FP on the other hand stayed loyal to the serpents he ended up with a young girl who then gave birth to two adorable children. She later left FP with the daughter and jughead stayed in Riverdale with his father.
Jughead walked into his and his dads trailer when he finished school.
"Hey dad!" FP looked up from his phone.
"Hey Son."
"Could I ask you a favour?" He nodded towards his son. "Betty is worried about her parents and I had an idea that you could maybe go over and talk to them, Betty has tried and she is getting no answer."
"Jug!" FP shook his head. "I'm not getting involved especially when it comes to Alice and Hal they don't like me! They probably won't even let me in the house for Christ sake." He laughed.
"Please dad do this for Betty." He didn't say anything for a while and then let out a big sigh.
"Fine, I'll do it for Betty. I'm not promising that it will go well but I will try okay? I will visit them in the morning." Jughead smiled and nodded at his dad.
