The sun filtered through the floral patterned, green curtains of Pheonix's room. The young adult raised an arm to her face, shielding the sun from her eyes as she tried falling back asleep, only to bolt up immediately as the realization hit her like a punch to the face. It was Tuesday, and Tuesdays meant waking up earlier than usual due to work. She had applied for a job as a waitress at Grillby’s, a small bar and restaurant that was not too far from the comfort of her home. She sat up on her bed, stretching, and looking for her slippers.

As Pheonix entered the building she wrinkled her nose as the bitter stench of alcohol and aroma of newly made burgers fought for control. Not the she minded of course, she was thankful that Grillby, the owner of the place, had the decency to hire her regardless of her being human. She had arrived rather early as the restaurant was currently empty, giving her time to catch her breath and get to know her fellow employees better. The first customers were a couple of anthropomorphic dogs who bared giant axes and wore polished, metal armour. She was quick to arrive at their table and begin jotting down their orders. That was until they gave her a skeptical look, both beginning to sniff the air.
“I don't mean to alarm you ma’am but I believe there may be a human in this building!!” the male canine whisper shouted, looking around cautiously in search of the human.
“Are you sure?? I've been here for the last 15 minutes and not one human has passed through that door!!” Pheonix replied, trying her best to keep her voice from shaking. Perhaps the cat ear headband and painted whiskers weren't enough to fool the customers.
“What a shame… I was looking forward to taking their soul and bringing it to King Asgore!!” the female canine grinned, swinging her axe over her shoulder effortlessly.
Pheonix let out an awkward, nervous chuckle, quickly slipping into the kitchen handing the paper with the orders to the chef and heading back outside. Her eyes widened at the number of new customers that had arrived while she was gone. She made her way to a new table, jotting down the orders, and sighing at the long day she knew she had ahead. The first few minutes were pretty repetitive with a couple of rude remarks from monsters who easily looked past her disguise here and there, though, she had gotten used to said remarks rather easily.
The time came when it was finally the closing hours for the restaurant and bar, she had already signed her exit and all that she had to do now was simply walk out the doors and head back home. And that's exactly what she did. The walk back was pretty peaceful, if you exclude the fact that it had begun snowing pretty darn badly halfways to her home. Regardless of the unexpected weather difficulty, she eventually made it through the storm and stepped into her house, smelling the welcoming aroma of the cinnamon candle she placed on the coffee table in the living room.
She flopped on the couch, expecting to fall onto the soft fabric and take a short nap however she found she was being held back by a strange force. She furrowed her eyebrows, her mouth forming into an annoyed frown as she noticed blue strings wrapped around her torso. She crossed her arms as the familiar charcoal-coloured skeleton appeared, sitting down on the couch in front of her.
“Seriously, Error, why?? I'm tired and just want to sleep…” Pheonix asked, yawning as soon as she finished her sentence.
“Not as long as I'm here.” He smirked and shrugged, speaking in his usual glitchy voice.
“I ain't dealing with your crap today you… over-roasted marshmallow.”
And with that she placed her headband on the other, successfully causing him to crash out of embarrassment and the strings to release her. She rolled her eyes, walking to her bedroom
Why did I choose this idiot as my roommate??
Oh right!! I didn't, he invited his damn self!!
She quietly spoke to herself until she finally arrived at her bedroom, making sure to lock the door in order to change into her sleepwear, otherwise known as a yellow chick onesie. She pulled her blanket over her and closed her eyes, dozing off without difficulty. Tomorrow would be the exact same thing, or at least that's what she hoped...
