Story

"I want you to meet my parents," Auston told me one day. We hadn't been dating that long, well three months didn't feel that long— considering he's away for most of it.

"What? Why? When?" I said quickly. It was pretty nerve-wracking. Meeting the parents is the next big step. Next thing you know he'll be proposing— oh lord, please don't tell me he's planning on proposing? We're too young to get married.

"I've talked about you with my parents, they want to meet you. No big deal." Auston shrugged. Why was he always so calm and relaxed? Was he ever stressed about these kinds of things? Sure I've seen him stressed because of games before, but even those were rare.

"Hmm, alright," I said slowly. "When's this happening?"

"They're coming to game tomorrow afternoon. I want you to meet them afterwards." Auston said. "Mom said she'll even make some amazing food to impress you."

"I'm sure she doesn't have to impress me, I have to impress her." I retorted, with a half chuckle. I was worried about not impressing them. They could be my in-laws one day if I play my cards right. "Well, I look forward to it."

"They'll love you," Auston said, as he leaned over and kissed my head softly. I smiled contently when he wrapped his arms around me too.

After The Game

"Mom, Dad, this is Y/N, my girlfriend," Auston said when he introduced me to his parents. I knew what his parents looked like— I've seen photos of them. And his mom was prettier in person. I knew where Auston got his good looks from— not that his dad wasn't also good looking, but his dad had aged a lot more than his mom, so it was harder to tell if Auston's good looks could've come from him too.

"Hello, we've heard so much about you," Ema told me. "Auston adores you."

"Thanks for telling her mom, I'm sure she didn't know," Auston replied sarcastically. Wow, even that comment wasn't enough to make him blush. He's too stoic to ever be embarrassed.

"Just stating the obvious." Ema laughed lightly. "We're treating you to dinner tonight, okay?"

"Okay, Mrs Matthews," I said. I'm sure I didn't have to use formalities— but when I was nervous around adults, it was how I functioned.

"Please, Y/N, call me Ema," Ema said. Her smile reminded me of Auston's. It was cute.

"OK, Ema," I responded slowly. I was still nervous, but I was trying not to be.

After Dinner

"Y/N, come look at these photos!" Ema shouted.

"What photos?" I asked curiously. I walked back into the living room of Auston's apartment.

"We brought some photos of Auston's childhood," Ema said.

"Mom!" Auston shouted. So now he's getting worked up over it? Cute.

"Oh, I want to see!" I said as I sat down next to her.

"This is when he first started skating..." Ema told me, as she started going through the photo album. I couldn't help but smile at the pictures of Auston when he was a kid.

"Aus!" I shouted, as my boyfriend sulked in the corner. He was obviously not happy I was looking at his photos from his childhood. "Why is your face so freaking adorable?" I couldn't help but giggled, as Ema showed me another picture of Auston when he was about 5. He was a cute kid.

I looked back at my boyfriend, whose face was now red, instead of his usual skin colour.

"Are you blushing?" I asked, laughing a little. I walked over towards him slowly. But he only backed up as I got closer.

"What— no." He stammered out, as he continued backing away from me. I giggled lightly, as he backed into a wall, and couldn't go any further. The closer I got, I noticed he was in fact blushing.

"Did I get the ever-stoic, hardcore, total badass Auston Matthews to blush?" I asked teasingly, as I poked his nose softly. He stood an entire foot above me, so I was on my tippy toes trying to even reach his face.

"No— it's just— cold... Yeah, cold." Auston replied, his cheeks only burning more red as he spoke. I shook my head softly.

"Huh, it's cold..." I said slowly. It was mid-September, the summer heat was still here, so it definitely couldn't be cold in Toronto. "So, it's not because I said: why is your face is freaking adorable?" I asked quietly, with a little chuckle.

"No." His voice cracked as he tried to deny it. But his cheeks somehow burned a brighter red.

"Uh-huh, I'll pretend to believe that." I teased.

"Good," Auston said. Suddenly his voice was back to normal, and his cheeks were slowly returning to the usual colour.

"My boyfriend is a cutie pie, isn't he?" I asked teasingly. His cheeks flared up again. "Hey Ema, isn't your son adorable?"

"Oh yes, he's adorable!" Ema shouted. "Come check out this photo!"

Author's Note: Again with the "I saw this and thought of him." I mean, Auston always seems pretty calm and collected. So this was kind of perfect for him?
