Broken.

I used to love you once upon a time,
We loved each other but that was short lived,
I tried to make you see reason,
I tried to stop you from breaking my heart,
But you always found a way to continue this act.

I cried and wailed but my tears didn't stop you,
I tried to get your attention, but that never worked,
And after all those deeds, you always came back to me,
To seek my forgiveness,
I was so in love with you that I kept on forgiving.

You would linger around and then turn back to your ways,
And I was left alone and forgotten,
I cursed you for breaking my heart time after time,
And I cursed myself for forgiving you each time.

I ask myself, "When did it come to this? "
Is it maybe because our love ran it's course?
Did something go the wrong way and the attraction faded?

You knew your actions caused me pain yet you couldn't seem to stop,
Was my pain your addiction, your only vice?
You promised to changed it, to fix it,
But how can someone fix something so broken that almost nothing is left?
