A sweet kiss of morning dew and an infinite rays of a promising sunshine dancing against the window pane convincing enough to stretch her superior limb and showed a yawn of relief after a long hour of sleep. She hurriedly moved towards the window and peeped silently like a thief only to find out that she is really home. A home that sheltered her from inevitable childhood fearful years. A protective lobby for her doubts, and the empowering voices around her became her strength and overwhelming confidence was built. Concrete and solid, a well- furnished character of a fine young lady displaying a lot of good things to say about her. The soothing freshness of the air reminds her the first time she meets Brayden. Where the towering verdants covering the busy streets, and they were sorrounded by shilly-shallying crowd who didnt take time to notice her palm sweating, her drying throat that needs a hot tea with honey or any throat lozenges because it eventually dries up even without the winter breeze. She was just lovingly in an earnest gaze, like her thoughts have already reached a pilgrimage that is unknown to many.
To show attention to Cassy, Brayden smiled politely with no hesitation showing his perfect bite, where the edges of the upper front teeth is lined up parallel to the lower lip. His desert-sand eyes broadcasting different emotions fringed with a luxurious lashes that you will never caught him smirking. But the most prominent in his face is his grecian nose, that gives this fleshy, triangular appendage a distinctive feauture you will never forget. And that you will fantacize having some nose to nose with.
"Hi, Cassy! Im happy and pleased that you came. " Brayden enunciates clearly with enormous regard.
"Oh, thank you for being so appreciative and for making me comfortable, Brayden."
"So, lets grasp some drinks, come on."
"Sure, lets cure our thirst!"
Their first meet was light and fun, obviously they like each other's company so well. Brayden is an ecstatic date, her mind reckons silently. Not bad for a first time, she thought. Before parting ways, Brayden was quick enough to ask for a next date. And that makes Cassy blush instantly.
There was first date, second, third and many times followed after. The flow of their conversation was interesting since day one. It was a full bloomed courtship, and attraction was similar to that of the strongest voltage, ignites and then there is fire. Until their relationship started. The honeymoon stage of being together is always the sweetest, full of promises, life-plans filled conversations till dawn, unbeatable loving words. Endless vision of the future together. That "we will make it" and "we can make it" together till the end- kind of relationship. No nonsense out of this world kind of arguments. Its like we will get married tomorrow because its how i am seriously, deeply, head over heels in love with you and ours is forever. The exaggeration of unexpected burst of emotions that you always wanted to see the person every single day. And from that wildest, fancy imagination, reality will take over, struggles of being in a relationship and how to survive the bitterness of life that lies ahead between you two. One day, Cassy seemed hesitant to open up with Brayden on her decision of going overseas. She knew it would be hard, probably the hardest part of their relationship. And here, relationship vs ambition. Reality vs fantasy.
"Are you okay, Cassy?", Brayden asked in disbelief that his girlfriend is not the typical happy soul when they are together. Cassy just smiled shyly, " yeah, its just..."
"Just what? Noooo!!! Im warning you! DONT EVER TELL ME YOU'RE NO LONGER HAPPY WITH ME. THAT YOU LOVE SOMEONE ELSE. THAT.. NOOO CASSY! I DONT WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU'LL GONNA SAY! OOOOOHHHH!!! I CANT LET YOU GO MY CASSY GIRL, PLEASE!" That funny moment of Brayden's reaction draw a giggling laugh from Cassy. "Hey, loveey! what makes you think that i will ever trade you for someone else? You ridiculously handsome creature, ill miss you!! Ill miss you". With uncontrollable emotions, she went to hug her boyfriend so tight and that makes Brayden to react extremely agitated. "Love, what? Why you will miss me? Are you planning to go somewhere? Where?" Brayden continuously asked.
Cassy looked him straight in the eyes and lovingly said,
"You know, loveey, even if i will go miles and miles and another more miles away from you, im confident that when i will come back, you are still here waiting for me. That your love for me will always be true. You have my trust. My love. And please, can we still hold on to our plans and promises? One day, this is all worth it, love! " That first ever solemn tears racing to fall down his cheeks and carefully locked his hands on her face filled with hope and love. " So,- where- are- you- going-, love?" Finally, he finished his sentence while sniffing, his tears still in boomerang. " I was hired in a Homecare in Kuwait. And i am just waiting for my ticket anytime soon." She replied, evidently careful of her words. "Love,
I knew you are strong, and our love is even more. Ill be lovinly waiting for you."
That sealed their day. Time went very fast. Cassy pursued her dreams abroad. Life seemed so perfect for the two. Like most couples, they tried all means of communication. It was a worry free kind of love affair. Everything is smooth. They managed their time so well, despite of a five- hour time difference and an undeniable stress at work. They knew they will get this through. Not a single ticking of the clock did they ever doubted each other's love. No trust issues.
But change is eventually generous and abundant. Its always there to make you or break you. Cassy has been wondering why she can no longer reach him. She tried calling him many times but he is not answering. A bit worried this time, Cassy still hold on to their promises. She even tried sending a message but all her messages was put on a seen zone. And when she finally got a chance to talk to him, a poor internet connection has been an excuse. And Cassy seemed to understand him,
not until that one damn, heart-breaking Sunday evening when Cassy finally finds out that her one true love, her supposed- to be her everything and all, her Brayden is cheating on her all of this time. When her college, trusted friend, Rizza, sent her the screenshot of a Facebook status containing sweet nothings from an unknown girl of which where Brayden was tagged, its when a sandstorm on a winter time filled her breath with disbelief, that pain is unfamiliar. A nerve-irking vexation and a furious violence shouting from the brain's tiniest cell, travelling to a now million times damaged heart. Repeatedly why, why and whys. She's been asking herself how did it happened? Is this what she deserved? She sent a message again to confirm that big revelation that was a slapped in her face. And he admitted he is wrong. And a sorry.
" Hi, Cassy. This is Brayden. Im so sorry for what happened. Im really sorry."
"Its okay, admitting you're wrong is enough. Im hurting, didnt i told you that if your love loses its strength and freshness you will just tell me? But why? You choose to cheat. Have you mastered betrayal now? I hope you will both find happiness. Now that someone is struggling to recover because you choose to lie than tell the truth!"
Moving on is a process for the brave. They are not afraid to cry and laugh at the same time. Cassy is accepting hardly that she was betrayed. "Oh, this Cassy who is wise, achiever, fulfilled, got cheated on! Cheers!"
Truly time heals. But the pain you once felt will always be fresh. You forgive. But that particular moment when you almost melt and disappear to escape from pain, it is still the same familiar feeling you will remember.
"Cassy, time for breakfast". Her thoughts were diverted quickly when she heard her mother's voice.
"Hi, Mama." Her voice was sad, pale, and low.
"You're still thinking about him?" Her mother noticed her lack of energy in an early morning.
"Yes, Mama." She answered shortly.
"You know what Cassy, i also cant believed he is capable of doing that to you. But you know what? Why dont you give him a second chance? Afterall, he is one respectful man. Thats what i like about him. "
She cant believed that she heard it from her Mom. But she responded sincerely, "Mama, what will i do with someone so respectful but a cheater? I believed, once a cheater, always a cheater. So, im moving on, and will patiently wait for the right one. So, breakfast table is ready Mama. Lets go".
And they paraded to the dining table together.
