River stared at the IceWing's cruel gaze. She felt fear at not his gaze, but at his deadly breath that came from his snout. She sunk her talons into the soft dirt below, and attempted to keep her head up high. Her small wings clung tightly to her sides as if they where held shut by vines. Her eyes where harsh and filled with ambition. The icy air clung to her scales as the icy dragon made her back up by advancing to her, towering over her easily. She scowled as she tripped.

Getting back up again, she whipped her thin tail towards him. He dodged quickly. She lashed out again, this time she aimed for his exposed throat with her bared teeth. He leaped up, having the dragonet slide under him. She roared with outrage, stamping her foot down. Right on the tip of his tail, where she normally did. He had a squashed tail because her and her sisters always fought him. He roared, surprised by how much force she could imply. He leaped forward, lashing his tail as he lunched toward her, his talons ready to take her life at any moment. She leaned down, easily able to get under him due to her small size. He snarled and faced her, his gaze filled with even more hatred. His wings opened and closed. Just as they closed again, he lunched in the air, circling her swiftly, before diving and grabbing her shoulders with his talons.

River smiled at the IceWing as she looked up. "How was today's practice, Dad?" she asked, her wings spreading out as he released her. Her beady eyes we're bright and unforgettable. Her smile was happy. All there anger just disappeared. They smiled at each other with black eyes. While his smile lasted only moments, he still had love warming inside him as he spoke. His tail waved calmly, as it always did. His wings spread out wide and his talons brushed the frozen leaves of the oak, maple, birch, and spruce tree's below. Frost was frozen to his snout.

"Much better than yesterday's. You still need to work on confusing the enemy, plus speed and aim. In a real battle, the smallest of SandWings can dive down on you before you can move. A SkyWing can shoot fire quickly, and you can end up like a roasted boar. A RainWing can blend in with it's surroundings and shoot it's venom." he lectured, facing her with a beady gaze. "Anyway, as we have worked enough on battle, gathering, and flying lessons today, I give permission to let you explore the woods on your own. There is one restriction, though. Just past the rapid streams awaits a ravine. Go no father than that." her dad added. "Past there lives Queen Cardinal. You know she would react to a hybrid living within her terriotry range, especially one she is against. With the Tribe War going on, then she would be happy to slice open your throat and toss you at my feet."

She felt unbothered as she nodded reluctantly. "I will go no farther then the requested range." she spoke, crossing her talons behind her back. He smiled, flicking his tail in the direction he spoke of. She dove down, twisting on a branch like she had once saw a RainWing do. Her father was good friends with them, and she had once met Queen Plum. That elderly queen roughly taught her about there Sun Time and all the required needs of a everyday RainWing. She continued to swing through the branches, her smile disappearing. She had gotten really sick right before they left, and she looked as if maggots lived within her stomach or somewhere in her body. Gliding down, she sent a message through the silent air, even though she knew that the multi colored dragons miles away in the warm and noisy rainforest, where her mother, River, traveled back and forth to visit her friends.

She went slightly further, killing a few rabbits and squirrels until she reached the deep ravine. She couldn't see the bottom. She sighed, wrapping her tail around her feet and keeping her wings tight against her side. She sighed again and faced the other side. Red specks where not far, with a black and dark purple dot not far from them. Forgetting what her father said, she flew over, getting closer to the warm environment. The dots became dragons. Three SkyWings and a NightWing, with slight dark purple going through his starry scales, with the dark purple scales, very slowly, expanding, indicating that it was a RainWing and a NightWing. She got closer, worry creeping through her scales. Dark purple meant fear, or horror, from her studies.

As she got closer, she saw the biggest SkyWing had rubies, diamonds, and other jewels across her scales. Queen Cardinal! her mind told her hastily. Queen of the SkyWings for almost thirty years. Known for being just like Scarlett with an arena, where she takes any trespassers and is against any and all hybrid, mainly NightWings and RainWings. Stupidity, she got close, to see the queen leap at the other hybrid and pin him, snarling, "Hybrid, you will tell me where the RainWings and the NightWings are, or tell me where that SeaWing and IceWing took their egg! Right! NOW!" River continued to watch in horror as the hybrid gasped and shake his head, shaking.

"I told you, I do not know where any of them are hiding. All I have heard is that two of the eggs where full dragon, one an IceWing named Aura, the other a SeaWing named Hurricane. All I know is that there in the forest, other than the older two siblings. From news, they left and joined there respected tribes!" he whimpered out. The queen growled p, smoke coming heavily from her snout.

She growled, grabbed the NightWing's head, and smashed up it against the ground countless times before slicing his neck. Blood flowed on the ground as she got off his body and went in the air, roaring, "Solar, Redstone, follow me! We will get rid of the body as noon." With that, the royal guards flew up to her, and the disappeared from sight.

Before she could fly back home, a talon was pressed between her shoulder blade.
