I push myself to the top of the treacherous stairs of our apartment building.
Worth it.
You always are.
I'm carrying a few groceries that I got on my way home from work. As I near our door, the plastic grocery bags tighten around my fingers and push against my wedding ring. I smile a bit, remembering how that ring got there.
It was December of 2017, and the cutest boy that I've ever seen had just walked into rehearsal for some stupid school play. Three years later, I married that boy. He was You, my love.
I struggle for my keys and try to open the door, but before I can, you open it for me.
There you are, smiling, looking as handsome as ever. You ask if I need any help, as if. Your hands are already full. That's just how sweet you are.
You're holding our current two small pets, Alfredo (gecko) and Stuart Little (rat). I stare into your golden eyes and I'm amazed by how lucky I am to have the most amazing husband ever.
Later that night, we sit and cuddle on the couch. Me with my feet up, and you laying on my lap. I prop up my laptop on my legs in front of you, I reach over to type up a report for teachers college, and you laugh as I struggle with my short arms.
I kiss the smile from your face, only for it to return as soon as I pull away.
After a few minutes of struggle, I decide to put some YouTube on instead, we sit there, laughing and and cuddling for hours until you fall asleep on my lap. I look at you in awe as I recount the day I proposed.
I was stressed as all hell, you had just finished calming me out of a panic attack. We layed there in your bed, staring into eachothers eyes, and then, my voice starts to break as I ask the one question that would set our lives on the right path forever. Your full name, followed by; "will you marry Me?"
After I recount the events of one of the happiest moments of my life, I lean down and whisper in your ear that I love you, before trying to get some sleep myself.
