The Lost Lamb

On grassy, green hills, where mountain lions, and bears lurked, a shepherd was watching his herd of sheep.
As his back was turned, a little lamb wandered off.
And wander off, he did.
This little lamb was defenseless.
This little lamb had no defense against predators.
He had no sharp teeth, he had no claws.
He wasn't big, he wasn't strong.
The lamb began to get very scared.
He thought he saw lions and bears in every corner.
He started bleating very loud, calling for the shepherd.
Little did he know, the shepherd was tirelessly looking for the little lamb.
This shepherd never gave up searching for him.
Some might've said, oh well, it's only one lamb.
But not this shepherd.
He loved this little lamb so much, just as he loves all his little lambs, even those who stray from him, that he searched the entire hillside.
Meanwhile, the little lamb was getting followed by a big mountain lion.
This lion was very hungry, and very vicious.
While the lamb stopped and simply laid down, in misery, the lion crept up on him.
The lion however, was not the only one who wanted that lamb.
The shepherd, too, wanted that lamb very much, and he was willing to fight the lion for the little lamb.
Just as the lion was about to spring on the lamb, the shepherd came running up to where they were, and started yelling in a loud voice, and waving around his staff. He swung at the lion several times and got in some good hits.
The lion decided that, hungry as he was, the shepherd was not someone to mess with.
The lion slunk away, leaving the shepherd with the lamb.
The shepherd dropped to his knees next to the lamb, speaking gently to him, and telling him it would be all right, that never again would he let the lamb wander from him again and be hurt.
The lamb climbed into the shepherd's arms and the shepherd carried him back to the herd.
That lion never bothered them again.
That lamb is you.
The shepherd is God.
Though we wander far from him, he will search tirelessly for us, and he will always be with us.
Never will God leave us, never will God forsake us.
We are his.
So take heart.
Though the lions may be big and scary, our God is bigger then all the lions in the world.
And the most important thing?
God loves us.
