And there was something indeterminate on my wall.

"What is that?" I asked, pointing to the white, seemingly sticky substance.

I watched his mouth grow into a smirk. "Blake, you don't even want to know."

Fact number three: he was an even bigger player than I thought.

Dad decided to put Jason next to my room even though there's plenty of other rooms in this humongous house. You see, we live in a three story house. There's the kitchen, living room, a bathroom, and two bedrooms downstairs in which dad and his new wife sleeps in. There's two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. And then the attic is on the third floor.

I don't see why we couldn't house Jason in the attic.

Anyway, since our rooms were joined through the bathroom I couldn't control what I heard coming from his bedroom. And let me tell you, there was a lot to hear- a lot.

"Oh, Jason!" I heard a girl moan. I knew it was a different girl from the night before because she wasn't calling him 'Jasie-bear' or 'honey snuggles'. She was also much, much louder. "Faster!" she demanded, her screams echoing around the house. I was surprised Dad or Madeline wasn't storming right up the stairs considering all the noise she was making.

What did I ever do to deserve having to put my ears through something like this?

"Come on, Jessica!" This time it was Jason who was doing the moaning.

"My name is Nicole!" the girl screamed, this time for a whole different reason.

Before I knew what I was doing, I was laughing my ass off at the top of my lungs.

"Shut up, Blake!" Jason's voice travelled through the walls and I smacked a hand over my mouth, mortified he knew I could hear everything he was doing. Then he spoke to the girl again and said, "Who cares what your name is? Just keep going."

Seconds later his moans started up again, and I was back to wishing that I was anywhere but here.

It was a week later and it was my first day back at school since Madeline and Jason had moved in. It was also Jason's first day at my school, and I was not looking forward to it.

It wouldn't be as bad if Jason was but ugly, because right now there was no doubt in my mind that with his looks he'd be straight into the popular crowd. That was my crowd.

"Can you do me a favour?" I asked him at the table when we were eating breakfast. It was only me and him in the kitchen since Dad and Madeline were busy getting ready for work.

"That depends what the favour is, Blake," he said.

"Can you just... not acknowledge me at school? Like, at all?"

Jason raised his eyebrows. "So as far as our classmates think..."

"We don't know each other at all," I clarified. "Okay?"

"Fine by me," he said, but with a mouth full of cereal. As he spoke he spat some out by accident, and I ended up with bits of soggy cornflakes on my forehead.

I lunged for the tissues and frenziedly scrubbed his potentially disease-ridden germs off my face. Like I said before, Jason was a complete and utter slob.

And he didn't even say sorry. Instead he just sat there, his already famous smirk spread across his smug face.

I opened my mouth to shout at him, but at that exact moment Dad and Madeline walked into the kitchen- talk about bad luck. They were both looking professional in their suits: Madeline in pink and my dad in black.

"Blake," Dad said, "I want you to drive Jason to school and help show him around."

"But Dad," I whined immediately.

He just gave me a warning look, signalling that his words were final. I knew that there was no budging him once he put it into play.

"Fine," I accepted not so gracefully.

"Thanks honey," Madeline said. "It's nice of you to give up your time for Jason."

She came around the table and kissed Jason's forehead followed by my own. Jason pulled a face and groaned, but I couldn't help but smile internally. I'd never had a motherly figure in my life. That, and Madeline may have just got a taste of how many sexually transmitted diseases her son had.
