The Lost Past

Partner(Part 1)

"Dammit, this room is so cold," I said as I eat this cold bread in my plate.

The texture of the bread isn't really bad but the taste is freaking ridiculously bad that I even don't know why anyone wants to eat this.

"Stop complaining, it's your fault to make this place to be our hideout after all"

This coldhearted, ugly person beside me is Alex. He is one of the members in the place I work in. We already have been a partner for a long time but that shit personality of him never change.

"Hey, don't blame me. You are the one who asked me to find someplace normal"

" I said 'normal' not downright unlivable"

"Hey, is not that bad right? At least we still got the electricity running.."

*CRANG*

"What the..." I said while automatically hold my gun in my hand and point it out at the door

"Are we under attack?"Said Alex while taking cover behind the table with his gun pointed out

The lamps suddenly go off with a sound of breaking glass. I put a vase just outside of our room, so it might be from outside of  the door"

"Alex, cover my back"

"You got it"

I silently walk to the door. The room is dark but we already trained with this kind of situation so this is no big deal for me. The problem is how many people is in front of that door wanting to kill us? 10? 20? 50? If it's only 10, we cand deal with it. But 50 is too much for us.

"How is it?

I slowly move my head to the little hole in the door to see how many people outside

"What...there is no way..." 

"What is it?" Said Alex restlessly

"Z-Zero..." Said me, trembling.

"There is no one out there"

"WHAT?" Said Alex, shocked because of what I said"

"Maybe they are hiding or..."Alex said with confused face

"THE WINDOW!!!" I said while taking cover from the shot of bullet that might be launched from that window

Alex suddenly turns around his body and jumps to the backside of the table while still pointing it at the window.

"No..there's no one in there too..."Said Alex with relief.

"T-Then...where are they?" I said while being confused.

"Don't put off your guard!" Alex said to me

"Yeah"

We keep pointing our gun at the door and the window while covering each other back. But the attacker seems to not want to attack us.

10 minutes later...

"Hey, how long do we need to stay in this position? It has been 10 minutes and my arms already feel like it's gonna fall from my body"

"As long as it needed," Said Alex, while hiding his pain

" What kind of surprise attack that has 10 minutes cooldown anyway?"

" Then explain to me who turn off the electricity? There is no way it suddenly goes off like that"

"Well... It might be because.." 

"Shut up and don't lower your guard," Said Alex furiously 

"At least let me finish my sentence..."

20 minutes later...

"SCREW THIS, I'll face them head-on outside," I said furiously with this very tired arm of mine.

"YOU FOOL, STOP IT!!!"

Ignoring Alex word's, I unlock our door and pointing out my gun outside.

"Come here, you damn assassin, I'm gonna massacre you all!!!" 

There is no one there, only a child eating a lollipop that staring at me because of my shouting.

"UWAAAA!!!" Cry the kid fill the emptiness of our building

"YOU FOOL!!"

"What the..."

Alex grab my clothes and throw me inside the room"

"I'm sorry little kid, here's a candy for you. Forget of what you just saw, okay?"

Alex shut the door with fury.

"You freaking fool, do you want to die???"

"My arm already feels like it's gonna fall out of my body anyway, it's better to face them head-on like that. Besides, you are more foolish than me because of your freaking bad idea of making us wait for freaking half an hour like that"

"We need to keep our gu-"

"But it doesn't mean tiring us out like that"

"Well..."Alex fell silent

"Anyway, then why are our electricity off ?"Said Alex, trying to change the topic

"How should I know, it's probably just got off because of this freaking room is so damn hideously unlivable," I said while venting out my anger.

"So now you admit the room is bad"

"That's completely not the freaking point here"

*ring* *ring*

"Wait.." Said Alex while picking up his phone while I calming down myself

"Okay... I understand...Alright.." Said Alex talking to the person at the phone.

"We need to go" Said Alex closing his phone.

"Another one, already ?" Does he have no mercy at all"

"Yeah, now finish your food before we go. Don't go with an empty stomach"

"Screw that bread!!!"
