Cheaters Never Prosper (pt.3)

Start from the beginning

 I laughed, shaking my head.

Zee’s phone rings, she looks at the Caller ID and smiles. “Wassup?” She answers, then leaves the room. Strange. I shrug it off and head up to my room. I shower, redress, and get started on my homework.

I finished my work around 11:45. I was just going to bed, when my phone rang. I checked the name. Ray.

“Hello?” I answer, laying on my bed.

 “Wassup?” Ray asks.

“About to go to sleep.” I said.

 “Awww…why?” Ray says.

 “Maybe ‘cause it’s 11:45!” I said.

“You serious?” He paused. “Damn…it is. I swear it was just 9.”

I shake my head, laughing a little.

“You still mad at me?” Ray asks.

 “I don’t think so.” I said.

“Good. I don’t like it when you’re mad at me.” Ray says.

“Don’t make me mad then.” I said.

“I ain’t even do nothing. You just mad ’cause I called you out on being jealous. Which you were.” Ray says.

 “Was not.”

 “Was.”

 “Not.”

 “Was.”

 “Not.”

 “Was.”

 “Not.”

“We really going have this argument?” I asked.

He laughed. “Yeah. I can go all night.”

“In that case, I’ll be hanging up..”

“Noo.” Ray whined. “I wanna talk to you…”

I sighed and closed my eyes. “Fine.” I said.

Ray and I talked until 1. I was gonna be real tired in the morning, but I’ll get over it. Ray and I had a nice conversation. He was making me laugh, like usual. I went to bed, but I noticed that Zee hadn’t come up. Hmm…maybe she fell asleep on the couch. I turn over and go to bed.

(Ray POV)

“You talked to her until 1? You serious?” Trey says, leaning on some lockers.

 I nod.

 “And…she was sleepy?” He continued.

 I nod.

“Yep. She loves you. Any other girl? They would’ve hung up.”

We laughed.

Jake and Craig walked over. We dapped up.

“Y’all ditched us yesterday.” Craig says.

“Oh, damn.” I sighed. “I left early. I had some things I needed to do.”

“Yeah, okay. How about this weekend?” Jake asks.

 “Yeah, definitely.” We said.

“A’ight. We’ll see y’all at lunch.” Craig says.

 They walk off.

 Ashley walks up with Raven.

My heart stopped beating…why? Domi was walking up the hall.

“Hey, Trey!” Ash and Rave said, hugging him.

Hugging them back, Trey gave me a “what the ****?” face.

I shrug, watching Domi. I noticed she was texting on her phone, she never looked up as she walked past. Lovely. I sighed and leaned on my locker.

“Ray…you have no idea how much we missed you.” Rave said.

“Seriously?” I asked. “The hell? Both of y’all break my heart, in a year’s time…and you miss me after you leave?” I roll my eyes. That really just made me mad. “Y’all need to gon’ somewhere. Like…for real.”

“Why you being so hostile?” Ash says.

I look at Trey. He rolled his eyes, flipping his snapback to the side.

“You serious, Ashley?” He asks.

 “Yeah. Like—”

“Just go. Like, honestly…both of y’all hurt me so bad. Don’t come back to me like we’re all buddy-buddy…we’re not.” I said, pushing myself off my locker. I headed down the hall, away from them. My day was ruined. Well…maybe not…

(Domi POV)

I stopped at my locker, slipping my phone into my back pocket. Zee and I were text arguing, ‘cause she didn’t know what outfit to wear. I put my afternoon supplies away and check my hair in my mirror. I pulled my phone from my back pocket and looked at Zee’s latest text. Arms slowly slipped around my waist, a body pressed to mine from behind.

 “Whatcha’ doing?”

I closed my locker, turning around. “Chilling. You?”

Ray gently pushed me against my locker and smirked. “Same.”

 I nodded. “You kinda close.”

“I am?” He asked, stepping closer.

My heartbeat sped up as I looked him in the eye.

 “What’s wrong, Domi? Nervous?”

 I shake my head, no.

 “You sure.”

 “Positive.” I said.

He nods and steps back. “Wanna chill after school?”

“Sure.” I said, feeling better ‘cause we had distance.

“Cool. I need to talk to you.” Ray says.

 “Okay, what’s up?" I asked.

“Not now. Later.” He says.

I nod as the bell rings. “Come on, let’s get to class.” I said, leading the way.

“Wait.” He grabbed me, spinning me around.

 “What?” I asked.

He paused, looking at me. “Nevermind.”

 I give him a weird look. “A’ight.” I said.
