*Little note: This is my first attempt to publish on here again in a few years so i'm really rusty but I still hope you guys enjoy.*
Look, I didn't mean to blow up my schools girls bathroom, like I didn't mean to almost blow up the science room, and blow a whole in the gym either, and that one time I... well you get the point. By any leap of logic, I should have been expelled but I guess I was lucky to be the daughter of one of the founding families of Goode high school.
I was sitting in the principles office, getting a lecture from the principle that I could have recited back to him when the final bell of the year went off and I smiled.
"So, I'll see you next year sir?" I asked, and he sighed and nodded, his dark grey hair just covered his dark eyes and he nodded.
"Of course Atalanta, please try to come back form summer break and not do this again." He said and I nodded. He was kind to me, was there for me when my mother died a year ago, so I knew he was letting me get away with more than normal.
"Thank you Rick, and I honestly didn't mean to do it." I said, and he nodded.
"I know, have a good summer Ata." He said and I nodded.
I picked up my bag and left the office, deciding not to go home, but to go to the schools swimming pool. I only wanted to soak my feet, the water made me feel calm and I needed that around now. I didn't have to get home soon, its not like my step father expected me home any time soon, well I didn't even think he was home from his business meeting in Hong Kong.
I walked into the swimming pool room and saw the one other person who caused more trouble than me. Percy Jackson sat on the edge of pool, his feet dangling in the pool. He looked up as I took of my shoes and socks, rolling up my pants to my knees and sitting down on the edge of the pool, my feet entering the water.
"Hey, Percy, right?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yup, you're Atalanta, right? Your family founded this school." He said and I nodded.
"Yup, My Grandfather, one of three families..." I said and looked down, swishing my feet around. I was uncomfortable about talking about it. I felt safe though, sitting here. I closed my eyes and smiled, my hand moving to my necklace, the water made me feel close to my mother, the necklace was the last thing she gave to me.
"You feel it too then, the calm of the water?" he asked and I nodded.
"It's the only time my thoughts calm down." I said and he nodded, understanding. We sat there for a while, just talking , and I swear the laughing coming from me seemed foreign to my ears. I hadn't smiled in a while, yet Percy managed to make me laugh without even trying. Time flew by and when the janitor came into pool room we decided to pack up and go, seeing we didn't want to be locked into the school over the summer break.
"So what are you up to these holidays?" I asked as I put on my shoes. I checked the school clock and noticed it was almost five. I needed to get to the shops before they closed.
"There's a camp I'm going to." He said and I nodded. "What about you?"
"My step father is coming home so I guess just hanging out with him." I said and he nodded. I picked up my bag and gave Percy a wave as he walked off, going to meet up with his Girlfriend. I left the school and walked down to the corner store near my apartment yet for some reason I felt like I was being watched by someone. I quickly bought my microwave dinner and made my way home, trying to ignore the light echo of footsteps behind me as I basically running home.
