Prolouge
"Run!" That was the first thing I heard when "they" invaded the school. Everybody was panicking, reaching for something to defend themselves. People were everywhere, crowding up the halls, the exits, and every nook-and-cranny, making it impossible to get anywhere, but also making it easier for them to slaughter all of us. We were all dying in masses, which made for mass hysteria, which our invaders feed on. Soon enough, the halls were nearly empty, and I made my escape, somehow having survived the onslaught of attacks. I ran out the front doors, and into the courtyard. That's when I saw the body.
The Beginning of the Demise
Chapter 1:
It was just a normal day for the student of the Demise of Shadow school. This is a school that not many people know about. Those who do know about the school, are descendants of the Angel Miriam, the angel who led the fight against the Heartless, the very enemy that we are fighting. In the school that I go to, we learn self defense, how to use certain weapons, what is effective against the Heartless, and what is not. We also learn about something called "runes." Runes are symbols that one would draw on their arm. Runes can be very useful within battle because they can turn a duel that appears to be one sided completely around, and ultimately aide in the victory over one's adversary. Runes can be used for just about anything. There are limitations on how much they affect you, though. The most useful rune for battle is a Healing Rune. The other types of runes there are vary. Such as, Power Runes, Agility Runes, Defense Runes, and so on. Now back to the school. This school not only teaches you self defense and offensive techniques, but also culinary skills, and blacksmithing skills, and also survival skills in case you are on a mission, and you get lost in a forest, or lose track of the trail that you were on, and you need to find food, all these skills will come in handy.
Chapter 2
I awoke to a loud 'bang!'. It startled me to the point where I had jumped out of bed, still drowsy and ready to defend myself, a piece of paper in hand. "Caleb! It was just me dropping something!" It took me awhile to register who that voice was. But when I did, I wasn't a 'happy camper', as they say. "Lucy!" I yelled. "Why did you do that?" "I'm sorry Caleb! It was just an accident!" "Okay Lucy. Just don't do it again." A little bit of information on Lucy. She is my sister, who I have known for a while, and only came into contact with after about 10 years of my childhood. At first, I didn't like her at all. She appeared to be rude, and conceited, but I soon learned that she was only that way because she wasn't a very gregarious person, and didn't want people to always be talking to her and bothering her. Soon after that information was revealed to me, we slowly became more amiable towards each other. I eventually told her that I was a descendent of a 'Shadowhunter' expecting her to not know at all what that was, but her reaction surprised me to a great extent. "So am I, Caleb," she said.
Chapter 3
I was heading to my classes when I heard someone yell my name. "Caleb!" the mysterious voice said. I turned around to the direction of the voice, and saw my best friend Jacob, running towards me. "Jacob!" I yelled. Jacob embraced me in a tight hug as he reached me. After a few seconds, he let go of me and proceeded to walk with me to class. "So," he said "How has class been. I heard that the new teacher is a real jerk." Ah, yes. The new self defense teacher. "Yea, Greenberg is a real asshat." I said. "Hey! Watch your language young man!" said a Senior sentry that was on duty. I just walked on pretending not to have heard him. We reached our first class before the bell rang. "Welcome!" the teacher boomed "Welcome to your 5th day of Self Defense against the Heartless." "Now, for your first lesson of the day." He then proceeded to write something on the old creaky chalkboard. "Your first lesson today is how to recognize what a Uber-heartless looks like, what their attack pattern is, and how to defend yourself against one, and of course, how to defeat it." He then droned on about the origin of the Uber-heartless, before finally getting to the interesting part. "Okay." he said "Now we move onto the topic of how to defeat an Uber-heartless, if you were ever as unfortunate to come across one on one of your journeys." "So," he said "to defeat an Uber-heartless, you must know how to write a Banishing of Darkness rune." said the teacher "To write one of these runes, you need a Bringer of Light scroll." He then started to draw approximately what a 'Bringer of Light scroll' looks like. "This, is what it looks like, but luckily, one has basically no chance of encountering an Uber-heartless, so you will really have no need to draw this rune, but this is still vital information since the reported sightings of these deities has been on the rise. Now, does anyone remember what we went over last week?" he said. No one in the class had raised their hand. "What we went over last week, was the pros and cons of using a Light Sapphire sword in combat. Does anyone remember the Pros?" he looked around as he said that. "Yes, Adrian," he said pointing to a kid who is usually quiet. "The pros of using that particular weapon in battle, is that it has a broad reach, and if used properly, one can fend off multiple adversaries using this weapon. The cons of using this weapon is that it takes up a lot of weight, and if you are already carrying other items, it is difficult to draw the weapon in a timely fashion," he said. "Yes, good job Adrian. Now, we are going to talk about" just then the bell rang, sending a horrid shiver down one's spine as it clang and shuttered. "Well then. I guess we will talk about the topic tomorrow." he said as people clambered to get all their belongings together and rush on to their next class. I stood up, grabbed my stuff, and waved by to the teacher. "Bye Mr. Greenberg!" I yelled as I rushed out of the classroom, to my next class. The rest of the day went similarly, until it was bedtime, when I layed down and fell asleep, did something interesting happen.
Chapter 4
I awoke in a dim, smoky room filled with the smell of something putrid. I looked around trying to gain my surroundings, when a deep voice spoke, sending chills down my spine and around my entire body. "Hello Mr. Asura." the deep voice said. How did he know my name? I thought to myself, as I looked around, trying to locate where the voice came from. Suddenly, a bright, blinding light appeared. For a second, I was blinded, but when my vision came around, what I saw utterly surprised me, and completely disgusted me. There were what appeared to be human bodies stacked around the room. At least, the appear human from the waist down. But from the waist up, it was a melting pot of different animal parts, and human parts where they should not be. On one of the bodies, there was a octopus tentacle for the left arm, and for the right, there was a half of a dog. The head was just a bucket. When I saw this, I nearly threw up. "Oh, admiring my creations, eh?" the deep voice said. I had completely forgot about that voice, when he spoke so suddenly that I was startled. "Where are you?" I called out, hoping that I could track it that way. But, unfortunately, when "it" responded. The voice took up the entire room, making it feel as if he was everywhere at the same time. "That does matter right now? In this very moment?" before I could respond, the voice spoke again. "No. Trivial matter such as where I currently am does not matter. What matters is the fate of your friends at this very moment. As we speak, my lord's soldiers are charging the school, intent on destroying all of the inhabitants, and destroying all that you stand for." he said in a deep, rumbling voice. "Now, go and die with your friends." he said, as my vision started fading, and he left me with only the fear in my heart, and my bravery, and my will to defend my friends, no matter what.
Part 2: The Reckoning
Chapter 5
It has been almost a year since the attacks happened. Yet, still almost everybody is recoiling and recovering from the events. Some people saw their friends be slaughtered. Some people even saw their parents torn to pieces by whatever those creatures were, those creatures that didn't seem to be from this dimension. Although they had been identified by now. They had been identified as a creature people thought were long dead, even extinct, up until that point. The creatures that attacked the school are now identified as Dark Guardian Knights. A creature that the Archangel Melodias fought long ago, in the war that brought us our freedom from the Evil King Lilith. The origin of these creatures is currently unknown, but our team of Elite Banishers is working on the case at this very moment. This is all for now. Thank you.
That is what the news report was, a few days after the attack, when all of us were still unable to comprehend what had happened, except me. I wanted so badly to tell everyone what had happened to me, what experienced, but I knew that no one would believe me. The school still operated like normal, and people still went to classes, but no matter how hard anyone tried, no one could get rid of the dread and sorrow that came along with the aftermath of the attacks, and all anyone could think about for the first few days after the attack, when investigators were still looking through the debris, was whether or not their friends or family were dead. Even after all the debris was searched, there was still hundreds unaccounted for. Where they currently are, is unknown.
Chapter 6
The next morning, there was an announcement saying that on he of the people who had been missing since the attacks, has been spotted on campus. Everyone who could hear the announcement rushed outside to see who it was. I wanted to see who it was, much like everybody else, and once I finally got a glimpse of who it was, the mere sight surprised to no end.
Chapter 7
"Andrew!" I yelled at the top of my lungs as he slowly stumbled towards the crowd, looking dazed. I pushed through the crowd, aiming to get to my best friend. "Excuse me." I repeated over and over again as I stumbled over people's feet in an effort to reach the person whom I had not realized had been missing in all the confusion and despair around the school after the attacks. I reached his side, and immediately embraced him in a hug. "Agh," he groaned. "What is it Andrew?" I asked. "The pain." he groaned. "The pain." "What about the pain?" I whispered quietly so as to not alert any of the faculty or guards that were surrounding the duo. As Andrew had opened his mouth to respond to my question, my vision went black, and I passed out.
Chapter 8
When my vision had finally returned, the first thing I noticed were the bodies. The bloodied, bruised bodies falling from the sky into a seemingly endless abyss. I stared, utterly flabbergasted as the grotesque, misshapen and mismatched once holy beings fell with what seemed to be no
