two | "wait, is that code for an escorting service?"
"Nonni! Nonni, I'm home." Ria called out to her grandmother as she entered the house, slipping her black wedge shoes off of her feet at the doorway.
Given that it was the third year of her law degree, she'd had a day packed full of lectures and was feeling rather fatigued as she stood in the doorway.
"Nonni?" She called out again, whilst fixing her hair in front of the mirror.
She peered at herself in the mirror; every flaw on her face under scrutiny. Ria had never considered herself pretty, but rather adequate. But maybe her beauty laid in her simplicity. She was slightly shorter than average standing at a solid 5'2 and she wasn't exactly skinny, she'd never been a girl who'd had a completely flat stomach, or didn't have some slight extra flab hanging off her thighs. Her hair was a warm chestnut colour and usually always hung down from the pony-tail it was constrained to permanently. Her skin olive-toned, owing to her paternal Turkish origin. Her favourite feature, her eyes which were a classic hazel shade; that perfect swirling blend of milk chocolate meeting the green of a rainforest.
She tugged at her rucksack, pulling her chap-stick out to apply. Her lips were slightly larger than average, and she cringed when she remembered being called 'sausage lips' by some other kid when she was in nursery.
Once she'd hung her coat up, she realised that there was still no response from her grandmother.
"Nonni?" She said, more cautiously this time as she made her way towards the living room that Nonni would usually be in whenever Ria return from University.
She heard some stirring in the kitchen and averted her gaze to the room where someone had their back to her.
Someone who wasn't Nonni. A man.
"Oh my god." Ria thought inwardly to herself. "There's a burglar in our home."
"Who are you?" Ria spoke, her voice giving away her inherent nervousness and fear, "I have perfume in my bag and I'm not afraid to use it." She quickly pulled her bag off from her shoulders and pulled the cheap Victoria Secret perfume out from her bag. It was the most threatening item she had to hand and she wasn't sure what damage it would actually do, but she would use it if needed.
As the young man swivelled around to face her with a cup tightly clenched between his hands, Ria could've sworn she was on the verge of fainting as soon as she locked eyes upon his face.
He had the kind of face that had been taken directly out of a Calvin Klein advert. Ria's mouth drooped open slightly and she prayed she wasn't dribbling but the slight smirk that made its way onto his face suggested that he was used to this type of reaction. His eyes were the first thing she noticed; a warm inviting but mesmerising blue, almost more-so indigo. There was something wild about them; resembling the wild ocean before a tsunami struck. They stood out immensely against the warm beige undertones of his flawless skin. His hair was caramel coloured and tousled; in desperate need of a haircut.
"Close your mouth or you'll catch flies." He said, breaking the ongoing silence in the room.
"What?" Ria gasped, her voice strained but the perfume still tightly gripped in her hand, behind her back.
"Your mouth. It's hanging open." He strolled carelessly towards her, his finger pointing at her mouth, only centimetres away from her naturally rouge lips.
