I woke up this morning to the birds tweeting sweetly on my white stone balcony, the sun was bright as it shone upon my face.
With a delicate humph, I sat up and stretched my arms in a circle slowly, trying to prolong the moment. Today is going to be an interesting day.
Today my father is going to marry me off to another kingdom as a symbol of peace. I can already see him trying to broach the subject at breakfast. I rolled my eyes and huffed. He doesn't know that I know yet, but the rumours among the people have been flying. I want to help the kingdom in any way I can-being an only child and heir to the throne. But I wasn't expecting to marry an enemy kingdom's prince.
Oh well, it did not matter to me much because I knew that the kingdom came first. I slid out of bed to walk to my dresser. Dismissing my hand maids with a flick of my wrist as I went. My maids-Mary and Charlotte- curtsies deeply and flew out of the room through the servant's door that leads to the basement. I'm glad they left without a fuss- they probably could tell I wanted to be alone.
I looked in the mirror taking in my reflection. There were faint circles under my eyes, reminding me of my distressed state.
Last night I could not sleep well, I think I woke up at one-from the angle the moon was out my window. Now that I recall the event I can't remember the dream that woke me. My mind tended to forget anything that would cause me pain-and that was sort of a pain. Other than my dishevelled hair my appearance did not appear any different.
My white, fair blonde hair was wavy, silky and lead down to the centre of my back. My eyes were a soft citrine yellow that looked almost as if they glowed, they had very faint tints of gold, light ice blue and green. These eyes were framed by black, long eyelashes-no makeup on my face. My skin was pearly white, almost translucent-my skin didn't change tones no matter how long I spent in the sun. The only change was the soft glow of my cheeks, I was an easy blusher-and it showed through my translucent skin so easily that there was no way I could possibly hide it.
It's annoying.
