"Yes, we are. Mackenzie is actually Amelia Daniels, a girl who went missing mere hours after she was born. Several reports say that people spotted a mysterious-looking woman leaving the hospital with the child. And no matter how much searching we did around the area, we were never able to find Amelia... until now," a police officer, who had been called earlier to conference with us, explains.

"That must've been my illuminati mother..." Mackenzie mutters. When she gets an odd look from the police officer, she adds, "Um, I was raised by the illuminati for most of my life."

"Well, whatever the case may be, you were abducted at childbirth," the police officer says. All three of us are just staring at him in sheer disbelief.

"Officer, we took Mackenzie through the entire adoption process,, so she's legally ours now," my mom tells the officer.

"And that's not a problem. Now, we are going to try to get in contact with Mackenzie's birth parents and let them know about this news. We'll call you when we receive any updates. You're now good to go," the officer says.

Although the way he dismisses us doesn't seem entirely normal, we take the opportunity and leave anyways. On the way out, Mackenzie says to my mom and I, "My God... the first thirteen years of my life were all a lie..."

"I know. It must be hard for you to hear this," my mother replies, trying to be comforting. It sort of works.

We make our way over to my mother's car and hop inside. A little bit after my mom starts driving, Mackenzie leans over to me and whispers, "Call the rest of the group and tell them we need to have an emergency meeting. Act happy about it."

"Whatever," I reply, getting out my phone and opening up the group chat that Mackenzie and I have with the rest of our friends.

"I said act happy about it."

In response to that, I put a fake smile on my face. Mackenzie just snickers when she looks at it.

Excuse me, just butting in for a quick moment to say this: Even though Mackenzie's real name is technically Amelia, for the sake of consistency, she will continue to be called Mackenzie throughout the rest of this story. Okie-dokie, now let's get back to our regularly scheduled storytelling.

"Wait, stop there for one second: Your real name is AMELIA?" I exclaim. Our gang has gathered up at the clubhouse for an "emergency meeting" as Mia called it. It was really just for Mackenzie to tell us that she had apparently been kidnapped at childbirth by the illuminati.

"I know. I couldn't believe it either," Mackenzie replies. "But please don't call me that."

"Damn it," I hear Luke whisper to himself. Don't worry, I don't know either.

"This must've been mind-blowing to hear," Sam says.

"It was! I can't believe that the illuminati fucking lied to me! I mean, it wasn't the greatest family or the greatest home life, but they gave me a home for thirteen years of my life. And I never thought they'd be the kind to kidnap a child from the hospital like that," Mackenzie says. Her face shows that this whole situation is clearly making her anxious.

"Mackenzie, what else were you supposed to expect from a family that's based off of a conspiracy that's basically a meme on the internet?" Skylar asks, a bit rhetorically.

"I don't know... this is just all too much to take in..." Mackenzie replies, putting her head in her arms and sighing.

Shanna scoots closer to Mackenzie and puts an arm around her shoulder. "Hey, hey. It's all gonna be okay. You're with a much better family now, and have a great life and great friends. Just don't stress out about it too much." Several others within the group nod and say stuff like "Mhm" or "Yeah" in agreement.
