A good place to start in understanding anything  is a good definition that makes sense. The dictionary definition is a lot however, so here's it in simple mans terms.

Autism: A neurological condition that impairs an individuals ability in mainly social interaction and sensory processing.

Ok so now to break this down a bit. A way I've found to explain the social piece is calling social understanding a sense. Like the other 5 senses it is born to everyone and is not learned. It's simply there, like social awareness. This social sense like other senses can vary from person to person.  The socially awkward and popular as to those wearing glasses as have perfect vision. However, with autistic people we were never born with that 6th social sense. People on the spectrum can recreate it to varying degrees of success but it's never like an average persons.

Sensory processing is also one of the main components of autism. I'll go in detail how it feels to experience the world like this in an other chapter, but now just know it means autistic brains do not process senses the same way. Many are heightened to vary degrees depending on the individual and autistic brains in general are unable to focus. No like it's physically impossible to do so. When monitoring autistic brains researchers found that autistics couldn't sort through information one at a time, it either came in all at once or not at all.

That's all for today, thanks all and leave any questions or suggestions for another chapter in the comments, and constructive criticism is appreciated!
