Squinted, tired eyes that stand infront of the mirror. Those eyes are connected to a man that is brushing his teeth. This man is known as a lab rat, demon, bastard, and an orphan. This man is Gilbert Beilschmidt. A 30 year old counselor at an Elementary School. His life hasn't been the best. A childhood of abandonment, pain, and abuse have left him a broken man. The only good thing about it, the only light in his darkness, is a man who has grown up with him. A man who has been his best friend for forever. The man who has saved him so many times while Gilbert grew up. The man who works as a music teacher down the hall from his office. The man that Gilbert has fallen head over heals for since they first met. Roderich Edelstein. A 29 year old man that has helped Gilbert through the darkness even if he isn't completely aware of it.
Gilbert blinks at his reflection and notices he has toothpaste on his shirt. He sighs and finishes brushing his teeth and wipes up the toothpaste. He opens his contact case and sees shriveled contact lenses. He groans and runs a hand through his hair. He must have forgotten to put more fluid in his case. He starts to search his bathroom cabinet for another pair and just his luck, their are no more. He not-so-softly rests his head against the cabinet door. Great, now he has to order more. He walks blindly back into his room to find his glasses. Once he locates the thick, black, plastic rimmed glasses, he pushes them onto his face and goes on with getting ready for work. His bad luck continues when he finds that he's out of coffee. Irritation is creeping into his mind as his car refuses to start for about 10 minutes of trying until he finally gets it going. Great! Late to work.
He walks into the building and makes his way to his office. It seems very quiet today. Must be because it's a Monday. Gilbert is almost at his door when he slips and falls backwards onto the wet floor. It takes him a second to realize what happened before he feels pain forming in his backside followed by the water under him seeping into his pants. He quickly stands and puts his hands on his bum to check how wet it is. Fan-fucking-tastic. Soaked through. He mumbles swears under his breath and tries not to slam his door open. He grabs the paper towels in his desk and starts to get off as much water as he can then sets a bunch of the paper towel on his chair. He plops into said chair and let's his head fall onto his desk with a "thud". A knock on his door makes him pull his head up. A blond librarian with messy hair and thick eyebrows pokes his head in.
"Gilbert, I thought you were sick today." Gilbert groans. "Bad morning then. Well I hope it gets better but, I need your help. Carla Tenning has an over due book and James Bent needs it for his book report."
Gilbert looks at Arthur for a long moment before he turns to his computer to type. Once he's done he looks back at Arthur. "I sent her parents an e-mail to remind her to turn the book in"
Arthur smiles slightly. "Thank you." The man stands there for a moment and looks at Gilbert's face with an slightly confused expression.
"What?" Gilbert asks.
"You have glasses?"
"Mhm."
"Are.. are your eyes... red?"
"I'm albino Arthur. We have red eyes."
"Don't you usually have purple-blue eyes though?"
"I wear contacts Arthur." Gilbert says like it's the most obvious thing in the world. It's is to him. He hasn't worn his glasses at work since he started. He shows up with glasses and his normal eye color. You'd think it would be obvious that yes, he wears contacts.
"Right. Of course.." Arthur seems to be catching on to the irritation the other man is giving off. "I um, I'll leave you to your work then" Arthur slips out of the room.
Gilbert looks at the door and rests his head back down on the desk. He hopes today will go by quickly.
