Aria smiled as she hugged her parents goodbye before boarding onto the Hogwarts express. She was going into her fifth year this year. She told everyone that she was nervousited. Very exited but also nervous. This year they had to take their OWLS. Aria was never a bad student, but she definitely wasn't any Hermione Granger. She had decent grades, but she didn't think that she was ready for her OWLS.

"I'll see you guys at Christmas!" She gave her parents another quick hug before climbing onto the train with her bags and her tawny owl in it's cage. She was a Slytherin but she always enjoyed hanging out with the people from other houses more. It wasn't that she disliked Slytherin or anything, but spending all her time with her Slytherin friends, being in the Slytherin common room every day, eating with all the other Slytherins, having classes with Slytherins, Sleeping surrounded by Slytherins. She just needed a break sometimes.

She sat in a compartment with Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood, and a Ravenclaw boy named Nick Boyce, who was a sixth year. They all discussed the upcoming year while the rest of the school climbed onto the train. Her owl, Twyla, hooted at her until Aria gave her some treats. "There you go girl" she muttered before slipping back into the conversation with her friends.

They were talking about their OWLS and what they should be expecting. Nick was really helpful. He got an Exceeds Expectations on his last year. He told them most of what he remembered the questions being like. Aria made mental notes of what she needed to study this year. Right when Aria went to ask Nick how much he studied for she was interrupted by a ferret, also known as Draco Malfoy, standing in the doorway of their compartment with that smug Malfoy smirk.

"Well what do we have here?" He asked nobody in particular, a lazy smirk plastered on his lips. Aria rolled her eyes. Her parents had never got along with the Malfoy's and they told her the many stories from their days at Hogwarts. She met Draco Malfoy in their first year and they didn't get off on a good note. She soon figured out that he was nothing but his father's shadow. She tried to avoid him but for some reason he found pleasure in picking on her. His Gray-blue eyes scanned over Luna, she may be a little weird and believe in things that other people have never heard of, but she was still a Pureblood so Malfoy respected her more than he would say a half-blood, like herself. His gazed skimmed over Ginny and Nick and rested on herself, his lazy smirk widening. "Is the little half-blood making some friends? It only took you fifteen years. Congratulations." He drawled sarcastically. "Get out of our compartment, Malfoy." Nick said, his voice strong. Malfoy's gaze flickered from Aria to Nick. "And why should I listen to what you want me to do?" He pondered, leaning against the doorframe of their compartment. Nick stood up. "Because I'm a year older than you and I'm not afraid to show you some hexes that you haven't heard of yet. Consider it a free lesson." He said, voice deep and threating. He pulled his wand out of his robe pocket and pointed it at Malfoy.  Draco straightened up. "Fine. Whatever. I don't need to waste my time with you." He said, not as calm as before. He straightened his green and silver tie and walked out of their compartment, his entourage of Blaise Zabini, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Pansy Parkinson and Theodore Knott following him.

"Thanks for that." Luna said in her dreamy voice. Ginny nodded "He's always bugging us." "It gets really annoying." "He's a prick." Aria added. They heard the words that they have been hearing on this train for the past 4-5 years; "Anything from the trolley dears?" The trolley lady asked. Nick bought a pack of Bertie Bott's every flavor beans, and a liquorice wand, Luna got a pumpkin pasty, and Ginny bought a pack of droobles and some cauldron cakes, and Aria bought a chocolate frog. They ate their food, chatted and caught up. They discussed OWLS, classes, teachers, and quidditch. Aria was a chaser on the Slytherin quidditch team. The only downside to that was being on the same team as Malfoy. But they didn't play the same position so she mostly avoided him. They were comparing the Chudley Cannons and the Banchory Bangers when Aria realized that they would be at school in about fifteen minutes. "We had better be getting changed, we'll be arriving soon" And with that they all got their robes and went off to change. By the time they were done and had all of their food and everything else packed up, the train had stopped at the Hogsmeade station. She grabbed her trunk and Twyla's cage and followed her friends off the train. They climbed aboard the carriages that were pulled by nothing, even though Luna was sure they were pulled by "thestrals", and they rode up to the castle.

Once they made it to the castle, deposited their trunks and Twyla's cage, they said their goodbyes and split off to their own tables in the great hall. Aria sat at the front of the Slytherin table, one of the closest seats to the head table where Dumbledore and the other professors sat. Malfoy sat a few seats down, she could still hear his voice, much to her dismay. Professor Dumbledore gave his regular beginning of the year speech, and then they ate their food that appeared on the silver plates in front of them.

When Aria finished eating, her and Daphne Greengrass walked back down to the Slytherin common room and into the girls dormitories. They changed into their pajamas, brushed their teeth and got into bed, along with the rest of the Slytherin girls. The last thought on Aria's mind before darkness engulfed her was that maybe this year wouldn't be so bad, except for having to spend it in the same school as Malfoy, but maybe he'd just leave her alone.
