If there is an infinite amount of space and millennia stars and planets orbiting those stars which has been going on for millions of years why haven't we seen other life that is older and more advanced well mabey its because we havnt yet or mabey its because its impossible to get there like an amazingling great filter and this is worrying if you understand this because the filter is the idea that there is one big step in between modern civilization and a space faring one that is almost impossible to pass there are 2 scenariospossible the first is that we have passed this filter and haven't met any of the others yet or are the first to pass it and will eventually with millions of years time inhabit the entirety of the milky way but the troubling part is the second scenario what if the filter is ahead of us and we still have to get passed it and this filter could simply be the problems we know of today such as nukes or climate change or Mabry something we don't even know of yet what if there is something that has happened millions of times before to other species that prevents it from getting to space travel that will soon happen to us and by soon of course I mean millions of years from now but what if we never get passed it and what if we do what if we conquer the galaxy then what it will still be the same just on a bigger scale where we live out our miniscule lives on our home planet never making to much of a difference in anything because we only live for 60-90 years out of millions and millions of millennia because of aging and getting ald well what is aging aging is your body slowly getting worn out over time like an old pear of shoes were our organs slowly start doing less than they did before and people talk about dying of old age but dying of old age isnt actually a thing we die simply when something in our body is to worn out or damaged to perform its primary function and how do we prevent this well we get worn out over time in the first place from every time a cell splits it gets parts spliced of well our cells have little shields on the ends of DNA strands that take the damage for them but those where away eventually and that's why we get old our cells are withering away trying to simply reproduce as others die well when a cells DNA strand gets completely gone it becomes a sort of zombie cell and these cells don't die when they should causing problems and hurting other cells well the reason they don't die is they lack a protein cells use to know when to die and by injecting this protein into mice scientists found that they live longer and healthier and no this isn't imortallitg but its a longer healthier life if we can make this work and I mean a lot longer life now we still have problems like disease and injury but that's our next topic making the world safer and a better place first lets discuss industrial evolution on how we interact with each other for the longest time we were reliant on how much land we had to plant crops the only way to grow yourself was to steal from others there was a fixed amount of economy in the world then the industrial revolution and we started developing new fertilizers new textiles new weapons and now economy could grow were you can get better without the others loss but that isn't how things happen instead people step over one another to grow ourselves which is a primitive action we would be so much better off simply making things that work not things that sell then not using the money to buy luxuries but to put it towards research which in turn makes everyone live better and if everyone lives better the more people there are to research and innovate which makes things easier to live with you guessed it makes everyone live better and this circle would continue on and on and instead of just the longer lives from before we could develop medicine capable of curing cancer or fixing fatal injuries and preventing heart attacks then after that with stem cell research we could regenerate whole limbs or organs to save millions or give the soldiers lost everything for their country their whole body back and the applications are endless and if everyone is in a race for research and not a race for arms there wouldn't be bomb threats or really even war and no this doesn't mean world peace there would still be terrorists and criminals lurking about but it makes the whole world a better place for you rand everyone else and many eventually that helps us pass that possible filter
