Nicole:
And, shooting up above us into a wooded oblivion, the tallest trees began to grace our sight. Hues of green, red, dark blue and brown, shades of darkness crowded our eyes' corners. Nico drove as I drifted to sleep. This was my happiness. These woods brought out the best in us and the best times and the best shared memories. They are beauty and sadness of a summer long gone. And that summer was the best I'd ever had.
As I looked out the window, Nico said very little, focusing on the roads and every inch of pavement carving our path through this place. This was a sacred land to him. His family used to come here, his Alpha leading them deep into the heart of the woods for some enlightened sense of purity. I'd never met them, but he says they're... strange (to say the least). He didn't believe in destiny, despite our truest bond. He had a strange way of looking at our way of life. It wasn't scientific, but more... a strange naturalistic spiritualism. He saw beauty in the world, and beauty twined with archaic things, of ancient ruins and those sprites residing there unseen, but felt. At least, that's how he described it. Hopeless romance.
We loved each other endlessly and unflinchingly. That fall after we would move to the furthest part of our destiny - Alaska, studying the ways and hardships and techniques of living in the roughest places. Everyone asked us why Alaska, but the answer was simple to us. We wanted to start a family the remote parts of the world, where time stayed, and the clans of our people existed sparingly, for the freest way of life we could imagine, away from the bonds of our family's. It definitely took him some convincing though, it was my idea. I've felt the call of Alaska's mountains and plains since I was a pup.
We drove for hours until the road grew smaller and darker. Finally, Nico turned down his blaring 80s goth music and spoke:
"I love you Nicole."
"Mhm. You are a meme."
"Thanks."
Nico sighed. I could tell he wasn't content with my response.
"I love you too", I said.
A wave of relief washed over him. A happy smile spread across his face.
"I love you more." he retorted. I smiled gently. This banter would continue for the next few minutes.
Big patches of light began to pierce the tops of the trees, laying onto the road in front of us. We'd made the trip a few times before. I knew we were getting close by the way Nico's wolf occasionally emerged, ears sticking up, hoping to overhear some distant call of the wild...
Nico:
I came to a stop at the end of the forest road. Before us was the beginning of Spindle-Crest. We used to climb it as kids - a giant clump of boulders trailing down the entire mountain chain. As it goes on, the taller it gets, and the harder to traverse. But I remembered an overhang at the start of it, above a drop-off into forest tops dense and beautiful, and the mountain chain itself curving and intersecting the looker's sight in the very distance.
I wore my hair down that day, as I knew it would only get ruined by the long drive and the scorching sun beating down on it. I also wore tight black jeans and a Bad Religion shirt tucked in, tight enough to reveal my skinny but tight and muscular physique. Nicole wore wore shorts revealing her beautiful and seductive legs, and a tight red shirt showing cleavage every time I looked her way. We could've got in an accident by the amount I stared while driving. Even after all these months her body hasn't ceased to amaze me.
"Is this it?", Nicole asked me.
    "Not quite." I said.
I got out of the car and Nicole followed suit. I took my shirt off, half-hoping she would look, and she did. She placed a hand on my sweaty chest and looked into my eyes, and then running her eyes up and down from my crotch to my eyes. We shared a gentle kiss. She pulled away and kissed my on the cheek. She's so cute.
We helped each other strip the rest of our clothes off, admiring our bodies and feeling in all the right places. After our clothes were tossed into the car, we shared a final passionate kiss, before I backed up and SHIFTED into my wolf-form. If I thought she found my human-side attractive, that was nothing compared to the way she admired my wolf-side. I always loved watching her reaction. Finally, she changed too, and followed as I lead her up to the rocky alcove.
The way was definitely dangerous, but I remembered it well enough. Stones gave way under our feet as we leaped our way up, tongues falling out behind our mouths, paws wading through the air, that summer breeze whisking our lives into a happy place, within and between our furs and ears and piercing our lives with desire for life.
There was a beautiful tree atop a stone archway, rooted in rock with little dirt to keep it sane. There we climbed and saw what land lay before us. Two walls of grey-white rose on either side, barring our sight from the fullest view of beauty - but what we saw was as magnificent as I remembered it.
I couldn't wait to get to the top now, sprinting my way up in anticipation of showing Nicole. And she had no problems herself ascending. We arrived at the final trail - if you could call it that. It wound its way up to an opening bright as the sun. This was the way. The subtle breeze shot its way down this tunnel of trees from the top.
"This is it" I said.
"I can't wait." said Nicole with excitement.
Then, right before the moment of triumph, we heard the distant howls of wolves from down the mountain, on that path we so happily trod. It had to be my family.
Things were about to get interesting.
