Alyssa’s POV
I left Josh sleeping in our bed as I tried and failed to make my way upstairs. Upon reaching the floor above I held my breath and prayed to any God that would listen that the two guys in this house remained fast asleep. As I made my way outside I ran my plan through my head yet again as I took off at a dead sprint towards Kayleb’s house. The bitch that was his mother had attempted to kill the one person who meant everything to me. Rachel planned on taking Josh away from me, he was everything I needed. Literally, if he died then both Cole and I would perish because we were linked to him though the darkness had a bigger hold over us.
Making my way through the woods was easy, jumping over logs and tree stumps was second nature to me now. All of the time Josh had spent training me came in handy when I needed some ninja skills. My target was within sight when I jumped through the tree line and did a ninja roll so that I was practically hidden by a car sized rock. I snuck a glance around the rock before tiptoeing to the side of the house using a wide tree as midway coverage. Once I was positioned near the house I made my way to the cellar door because I knew the lock was broken years ago and was never replaced or fixed. There in front of me stood the next set of stairs that I was supposed to climb silently. Lucky for me I had grown up in this house and knew exactly which steps creaked in protest when you stood on them. I took it stair by stair and hoped to hell that neither Kayleb nor Rachel woke up during my little espionage mission. Once I had reached the first floor, the one that the master bedroom was located on, I followed the hallway to my right and counted the doors on my left until I reached the third one. I grasped the door knob in my left hand and began to twist it as a voice behind me said “Is this a dream?”
Kayleb was wearing a loose pair of basketball shorts and nothing else. “Yes, this is a dream. Go back to sleep and everything will be okay I promise”. He stalked off up the stairs and I heard his door softly shut followed by the sound of springs dipping in his bed as he settled himself underneath the covers. Standing still until my quickened heartbeat returned to normal. I pushed the door open slowly once inch at a time, Rachel and Chad were sleeping in the bed totally unaware of my presence. I clamped one hand down over Chad’s mouth and wrapped my other around his vulnerable throat. Using this is to control him I managed to threaten Chad by tightening the hold I had around his neck. Every time he started to struggle I tightened my hand just a little bit more until he stopped struggling. His eyes kept bulging every time I restricted his air further. I gave him a small tug and he obeyed my silent command. I pulled him out of the room with me and shut the door silently.
I pushed him down the stairs in front of me into the dining room forcefully. I knew that police couldn’t trace it back to me if there were no fingerprints or DNA. As part of the darkness none of these marks would show up on humans. I had left the rope I found in the cellar on the table, I grabbed it up and proceeded to tie it around his neck in a noose like fashion. I used the rope to pull him up onto a chair and I climbed up onto the magnificent dining room table. I started to loop the rope around the wooden beams that ran across the ceiling and made sure to tie it securely so there was no chance of it breaking. I climbed down off of the table swiftly and with one great shove kicked the chair out from beneath Chad’s feet. Not once did he try to argue with me or beg for mercy, he knew he deserved this and there was no going back. I watched his eyes bulge as the rope cut off his air supply. His hands grasped at his throat as he attempted to reduce the pressure of the rope on his precious neck. His arms dropped to his side as began to lose consciousness, I let a smug smile take over my face as I realised that I had achieved what I set out to do. Chad would be dead before the night was through. I hoped Rachel was the one to find him, even though me and Kayleb were not talking at the moment I would not wish for him to see his father hanging dead from the ceiling by his neck.
Running through the woods I arrived home and used the guest bathroom to shower so that I no longer smelled like Kayleb. I kept a stash of Josh’s shirts down here so I threw another one on so Josh wouldn’t notice. I went to the kitchen and began making waffles, bacon and eggs for breakfast for the troops to maintain the illusion that I had been here all night. On my way home I had smelled Ashley so I knew she would be upstairs with Cole so I had better make enough for four.
A/N: yes I know it is late Wednesday but it is still Wednesday where I live so woohoo I did it. This chapter took a lot of brain power and some encouragement from Kyle who made my mind more perverted than it’s ever been. You can thank him for my brain residing in a gutter for the past couple of days :D xxx totally love this boy, and kinda wuvs Adam and Dan too for not being freaked out by this too much. I did have a look for typos but let me know if you find one that escaped me. Until next time
