I sell you my voice for your presence

No matter how long or short it may be

I disregard my true desires and feelings

so that you can still look at me the same

with bright eyes and a radiant smile that leaves me breathless

Free from awkward glances away

I ignore my heart's cry so that you can speak of the one

lucky enough to be the one you call yours

I exchange my happiness for the aches and pains of your heart

and live in hidden anguish so that you may be free

Free of any guilt or shame that may come with breaking a heart

I do it all to keep you near

For having you near is everything and nothing at once

An incomplete reality yet entire with you

You can have all of me and more

For what is life if it does not include you

The answer is empty
