Once upon a time, the world was different. This was before the new man. This was when everything was older. During this time, we had a counter that told us when our lives would drastically change, be it a bad change, or good. For one girl, her counter only had 2 days on it after she was born. Those two days went by fast for her parents, who got into a horrid car accident with her grandparents. She was left with no next of kin, turning her into an orphan, and the only one to survive the worst car accident ever recorded in their history.
This girl was special though, however, for after her counter turned off when her parents died, it flickered back to life, lighting up a new number.
"Her counter says 18 years, 4 months, and 8 days. This is the first time anyone has ever had a second life change! She's a miracle!" said her social worker. The social worker worked tirelessly to get her adopted, the newborn baby newly orphaned. She felt horrible for the sweet baby girl, so she tried every one. In the end, the social worker was unable to find adoptive parents in time before she turned five. She knew after age five, it was practically impossible to get her adopted.
So 18 long years flew by and the girl grew. Despite the horrible foster homes and the sad group homes, she stayed a sweet, happy girl. She grew to be like her mother, she was a splitting image, and she knew it. Having most of what her parents left her, she was now fairly well off and left with a home she could live in and pay for with the money left with her and her new job at a child care center. Her dream was to adopt two children and have a foster home for many that was a happy place and a safe place, but until she was able to do so, she worked. And worked. And worked.
One day, her counter was at 4 hours, 20 minutes, and 29 seconds. She could feel the hours dragging on, her anticipation getting to her. Finally, her counter was at 5 seconds, and she looked up to see a man, a few years older than herself, coming through the doors of the care center with a young girl with bouncy, brown curls. She smiles sweetly, noticing how he was struggling to carry all the items needed for the girl he was carrying as well. She rushed over, and she saw her counter flicker off, realizing that he and the little girl were her life changers, but she would have to find out just what way they would change her life.
There is plenty more to come, please enjoy this prologue for now! I hope you, who are reading this, enjoy it and can't wait until the next installation of this story!
Thank you again!
