Chapter I: I want it that way

1999

Dawn's POV:

It has almost been a year since me and Nick started dating. And we're so in love with eachother that no one, not even Raven and Brian's love can con come close to ours. Yeah... Raven and Brian, ever since the day Jon returned to Boston, things between them, luckily, went back to the way it was. Me and Raven are back in New Jersey now, back home, enjoying to spend a few days with our baby sister, Crimson. However she's at school now, so me and Raven are at home alone.

Raven: ''Have you called Nick?'' I nod.

Me: ''Yeah. I called him last night. They're almost ready to realease Millennium now.'' Raven smiles at me.

Raven: ''That's probably gonna be their best album of all time.'' I smile back at her.

Me: ''Yeah, I'm totally in agreement.''

Raven takes then a sit beside me on the couch.

Me: ''And how are things between you and Brian?'' I ask her raising my brows.

Raven: ''Oh. Totally fine now. You know, we have our times, of course, but, nothing big to deal with.'' I give her a skeptical look at first, but she seemed honest, so I nod.

Me: ''And what's up with Jon?'' Raven sighs.

Me: ''Have you talked to him?'' Raven nods.

Raven: ''Yeah I talked to him three days ago. He... He's in terrible shape. His anxiety disorders are slowly taking him over again.'' I hug her.

Me: ''I'm so sorry. Ray, I think you should fly to Boston and spend some time with him, after all, you haven't seen eachother since months now.'' Raven Shakes her head.

Raven: ''No. At least, not yet. He needs time, to elaborate things.'' I roll my eyes.

Me: ''Jesus! Raven, he needs you. You're his best friend, for fuck's sake!''

Raven: ''I know! It's just, I don't want to fuck things up between me and him.''

I shake my head.

Me: ''Come on. He's you're best friend, you've known him for 9 fucking years now!''

Raven: ''I know! And I love him. But... I don't know... I feel like it wouldn't be the best idea to visit him right now.''

I glare at her.

Me: ''Don't tell me it has something to do with Brian.''

Silence. Raven didn't say anything, she just stares on the floor, with her head hung down. I refuse to believe she's sacrificing her bond with Jon just because of Brian!

Me: ''Are you fucking serious Ray? He's your fucking best friends since 9 fucking years! The two of you have experienced so many things together! You just can't burn these 9 years down, even for your own boyfriend! Jon doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.''

Raven sneers.

Raven: ''I know. He's a great guy, isn't he? He doesn't deserve anything of this.''

Then, I make my decision.

Me: ''That's it. You're flying to Boston. Tomorrow!'' Raven turns her head to look at me, with her eyes wide opened.

Raven: ''But, what's with-.'' I cut her short.

Me: ''It's ok. Me and Nick will deal with Brian. Right now, all you gotta think about is to pack your things. Jon needs you.''

Nick's POV:

So, I'm back home for a few days. And of course it has its ups and lows. The lows are that I have to bear my mother, while the ups are that I get to see my siblings. Especially my baby brother, Aaron. That's why I decided to spend as much time as I can with him. Because, who knows the next time I get to see him again. We've already played basketball together earlier, now, well, I'm helping Aaron improving his high notes. He still hasn't hit puberty tho, so it could take more time than usual.

Aaron: ''I can't!'' Aaron cries out, while I pat his shoulder.

Me: ''I know you can do it Aaron. Just try to do that again.'' 

So he did. He tried to do it again and he sounded just flawless this time. I smiled at him and Aaron hugged me.

Aaron: ''How did I go this time?'' My smile never vanished from my face.

Me: ''You sounded flawless bro.'' I said kissing his forehead.

Aaron: ''Can we go and play basketball?'' I chuckle at the kid's energy.

Me: ''Again?'' Aaron shrugs.

Aaron: ''Why not? I just thought that the weather is beautiful, so we could play another round.''

I chuckle again.

Me: ''Alright. Why not.''

But just when me and Aaron wanted to play another round, my phone rings. I look at the number, and it's Dawn. I glance to Aaron.

Me: ''Sorry bro. It's Dawn, you know I got to...'' 

I couldn't find the right words, but judging by Aaron's grin, he fully understood the situation.

Aaron: ''Yeah. Yeah. I got it. I'll wait for you outside.'' Aaron said while laughing.

I smile back at him and I answer the call.

Me: ''Hey babe.''

Dawn: ''Hi N. Listen, you got to help me with something.''

Me: ''Sure. What is it?''

Dawn: ''Alright. So, I encouraged Raven to fly to Boston tomorrow. And I need your help, to deal with this situation with Brian.''

Me: ''What are you talking about D? And why would Brian have a problem with Raven flying to-.''

Then it hits me. Of course! Jon! That is what's all about! I sneer

Me: ''Wait a minute. It's about Jon, isn't it?''

Dawn: ''You guessed it. But she has a good reason to fly to him?''

I raise an eyebrow.

Me: ''Which is?''

Dawn: ''Jon's anxiety disorders are taking over him again. And I know from experience that when you're depressed, especially how Jon's getting right now, you just need your best friend by your side. And they're best friends since 9 years Nick.''

I rub my face.

Me: ''Alright. But why should Brian have a problem with this whole situation?''

I hear Dawn sigh through the phone.

Dawn: ''Seriously N? How old are you? 10? He's jealous baby. He's jealous and he's afraid that Jon would fuck her again.''

I suddenly remember again what has happened last year and I can't stop myself from rolling my eyes. It was so stupid and childish.

Me: ''Oh yeah. I remember now. God it was so stupid-.'' But then Dawn cut me off.

Dawn: ''Well, it wasn't stupid for Brian.'' I sigh and we stay in silence for about a minute.

Me: ''Fine. I'll help you.''

Dawn: ''I knew I could count on you N.'' I could hear the smile through her voice.

Me: ''Well, I thought you already knew that.'' We both laugh.

Dawn: ''Alright. Can't wait to see you again. Bye.''

Me: ''Me too. I love you babe.''

Dawn: ''Love you too baby.''
