Chapter 1(Constellation in Line)

It is now the day Nova has decided to run away. She doesn't pack a bag, she just left a note to her mom saying, "I've decided to leave and let you and Dad figure out how this is going to work. I've taken 100 dollars to get me through the week and after that I'm going to find a job, Nova" I didn't want to tell my mom the plan that I have had all along and that plan was to go to the bridge and jump. As I'm walking down the side of the highway, I hear a truck engine approaching. As the engine gets louder the truck comes closer. The boy driving comes to a complete stop and asks me if i need a ride, but when I answer in a flat tone "no". He jumps out, picks me up and throws me into the backseat of his truck. He doesn't do anything to me; but he does make small talk, like small random questions such as "what where you doing," "why are you alone, " and "what's your name." I proceed to answer all the questions blankly, after a few minutes I ask him if I may ask him a few questions. He, to my suprise, answers them even the one about "what are you gonna do to me," and "what's your name." He tells me his name is Atlas, and he's gonna take me to his place I'll get to meet his dad. After about thirty minutes of driving, Atlas pulls the truck to a stop, and he helps me out but when he lifts his arm to help me I notice a revolver tucked in his suit jacket pocket. The horrible thought shoots across my head "Is he really gonna shoot me; I just wanted to drown myself jeez." So as we walk in the door his dad has this enormous smile and says, "Good job, Atlas, I'm proud you got your first ki- girlfriend." Atlas looks at him in a weird way after a second he smiles back, and I'm just over here like what's going on and where am I. His dad holds out his hand and introduces himself "Hi, I'm Leo, Atlas's father," and I'm just going along with all of this. I say "Hi, nice to meet you I'm Nova." After a few minutes of awkward silence, they take me to a room.
