The First Day Of High School
"I can't believe today is the first day of high school", I say to my best friend Rachel as I face time her while curling my hair. Can you believe we made it?, I ask and she laughs."Rachel I'm leaving with or without you!" I hear her brother yell. "I gotta go" Rachel says, I laugh as she hangs up.
I finish up curling my hair and head to my closet I wonder what I should wear. I know it's a cool day with the seasons beginning to change. I go for a pair of baby blue jeans with a maroon sweater and some tan Uggs.
"Breakfast!" I hear my mom yell "coming", I say as I grab my red faux leather crossbody and throw my phone and a small make up bag I packed in it."I always gotta be looking cute as can be" I say as I pose in my mirror and snap my fingers like I'm a queen as I walk out my door. I close my door because I don't want my baby brother Carson to go through my make up again.
Once I'm down stairs I see my family all sitting down waiting for me. "Good morning" I chirp "good morning" they chirp back. I fix myself a plate of eggs from the stove and put some toast in the toaster. I just felt like toast. Once it is done I take my plate and go sit down. As we eat we talk about how we each feel about our first days. "Um I'm kinda excited" I say hesitantly. "I can't believe this is my last year" my older brother Grayson says. "Playtime with friends" Carson says. As I finish my meal I take my plate to the kitchen and rinse it off to put it in the dish washer. "I'm heading out" I say as I walk towards the door."No I'll drive you" Grayson says. "I think I'll be safer walking" I say as I walk out the door. Or so I thought.
Just as I'm about to the school maybe half a mile from it I get a text so I go to look at it. It's Rachel I have my head down while texting and walking, when all of a sudden I run into someone."I'm sorry" I say as I notice how mesmerizing his blue eyes are, he looks like he's at least six feet tall with well the mesmerizing blue eyes and slightly wavy dark brown amber like hair that goes to just below his ears."it's ok" he says, I wonder what his name is."hey what's your name" I say."oh um sorry I should've asked the same myself, my name is Daniel, what's yours?" He says."Nice to meet you Daniel my name is Claire", I say."Nice to meet you Claire", he says.
"So where were you headed?" I ask.
"Oh I'm headed to my school it's right around the corner from my house, so I like to walk" he says.
"Oh that's nice, I'm walking because I don't want to get killed by my brothers driving" I say.
He laughs.
"So what school do you go to?", I asked.
"I go to NorthRidge High", he says.
"Home of the fighting NorthRidge Pirates!", I say.
"Do you go to NorthRidge?", Daniel asks.
"Yea it's my first day", I say.
"Oh fresh meat, you'll have to walk the plank you know?", Daniel asks.
"That's just a myth right?", I ask hesitantly.
"Yea", He laughs.
"So what grade are you?", I ask.
"I'm a junior", he says.
"Oh cool", I say.
"Well looks like we're here, would you like me to show you around a little?", he asks
I nod my head.
He shows me almost every room of importance from looking at my schedule, we even have two classes together! I can feel myself starting to fall for him even though I just met him.
"Hey, where'd you go off to", he says. Which pulls me out of my trance as he's showing me the library." Oh I was just thinking about the walls in here", I say to cover up what I was actually thinking."Come on Claire", I say to myself how lame that was. Ding Ding "and that's the bell", he says. "I'll show you to your first class". I nod my head and follow him to room 204 which is algebra. "Hey, come find me at lunch", he says. I nod and head in.
The rest of the day up until lunch goes by in a blur of awkward introductions and where are you at tests. Finally lunch rolls around as I walk into the cafeteria and see Daniel wave me over he's sitting with a group of a mix of girls and boys and introduces me. "This is Jessica and Brady, they are the it couple" ,they all laugh then smile. He continues, "this is Dylan,Ron,Jason, and Henry", they all wave. I wave back as he continues, "this is Derrick and Gretchen, they are also together but not so much the it couple" they growl then laugh."I'm just messing around they are the it couple to"."That's more like it", Gretchen says. They laugh even more as a blonde haired girl with green eyes walks up and wraps her arms around Daniel, I slightly frown but cover it with a smile so he doesn't see. "What are you doing, I told you were done when I found out you cheated on me, were over!", he says to her. "Fine", she says as she walks away unsatisfied."Sorry to hear that",I say. "Oh it's fine it was a while ago she just won't give up",he said. "You should go get your lunch it looks like the line is closing soon", he says as he points towards the line. "Your right", I say as I swiftly walk over there. While at lunch we eat,talk,and talk about parties next weekend. Ding Ding, the bell rings and lunch is over."Hey wait Claire", Daniel says "I'll walk you home after school meet at my locker it's 182", he says and I nod.
The rest of the day goes by in more of a blur until the final bell rings Ding Ding. I rush to Daniels locker so I won't miss him, when I get there he's already there. "Took you long enough" he says. I scoff "it's only two minutes since the bell rang I came from the other side of the school", I say."I know", he laughs"I'm just messing with you my last class is right across from my locker", he says."oh", I say awkwardly laughing."Lets go", he says and I follow him.
