Mistakes

Chapter 1

NAOMI'S POV:

"Naomi! Naomi!", someone calls out my name from a distance. As I turn around, I see a person with a blurred out face. Their voice seems to start to fade away.

voice: " I can't do this anymore", "I'm sorry, I have to go. Please take care."

The voice is fading and moving farther away from me and I start to feel pain. Why? I want to yell "Don't Go!", but I can't my throat starts to clog up.

Naomi: "STOP! Don't leave me!", I yell as I jump up from my bed and realize that I had been dreaming. This dream felt strange, it felt real, almost as if it were a memory.

There is a moist feeling rolling down from my cheeks, I was crying. I wiped away my tears and looked at my phone it was 5:45, school started at 7:40. I had enough time to go visit my mom before I head to school. I got out of bed and did my morning routine, changed into my uniform, and afterwards I went downstairs to prepare breakfast for both me and my little brother. When I finished cooking for us I went upstairs to wake him up.

Naomi: "Hey! Jacob wake up it's time to go look for mom!", I kept on shaking him until he finally woke up.

Jacob: "Are we going to visit her?"

Naomi: "Yes, now wake up and get ready so we can go see her."

As we were both finished eating breakfast and getting ready for school, we head outside towards the door. All I could think about this whole time was the voice that I had heard in my dream, it sounded so familiar to me but I couldn't remember whose voice it was.

My mother is very ill and has been hospitalized in bed ever since my father's accident. She thinks that she's getting better, but her condition isn't changing at all. I had to drop-out of school when I was in 8th grade to take care of my mom and 4 year old little brother since my father was absent, it was at this point that I had found out that I had become the adult of the family and had many responsibilities to take care of. Because of my mothers condition we had to move from Oregon to Missouri so that she could get better treatment. The only family that I really have left is my aunt, but we don't really communicate with her, we only contact her when we are in urgent need of her help. I never really studied after I had dropped out of school until my mom insisted me to go. The reason I didn't really want to go was because I wanted to be able to take care of my family as well as because I didn't really have time. So today is the first time that I am going to go back to school and I am currently a junior. To be honest I am really nervous and don't really want to go but if it's what my mom wants then I'm willing to do it.

We finally reached the hospital and ask one of the nurses to please show us to her room. As we entered the room my mother was sitting in bed and reading the thing that she loves to read the most, my fathers letters for her. I always find her reading those letters and she is always smiling with the most beautiful smile.

Naomi: "Hey mom! How are you feeling today?"

Jacob: "Mom! I missed you", he says jumping into moms arms.

Naomi: "Careful Jacob don't want to get mom hurt."

Jacob: "Oops, I'm sorry mom I won't do it again.", he says as he faces towards mom.

Mom just laughs and says, "Well hello, there nice to see you too. It's alright, I'll be fine don't worry about it. Wait why are you guys here?"
