As the thunderstorm rains down on the town, an old pick up truck heads down Lancaster Lane, where tales of supernatural origins circulated around the neighborhood. Monsters of all kinds were reported to have been seen right here. Not a lot of people lived in that part of the town anymore, particularly because of a certain school massacre that left almost every teacher and student dead.
The stories and sightings started up the week after the massacre, where the townsfolk who lived in Lancaster Lane felt themselves being haunted, therefore moving out. Some people claim that the school became cursed with strange paranormal activity going on inside the campus.
People had attempted to try and figure out the reason why it's haunted, but every time they did, they either ended up dead or became mentally unstable with what they saw.
Lightning struck the ground as the truck continues down the muddy hillside road until the driver pulled up at the rusted gates of an abandoned building.
The infamous Greyson Park High.
The campus was as it was 12 years and 11 months ago. Windows were locked, a couple of them broken, graffiti painted the gate walls, and wooden planks were hammered on the doors. A padlock was placed at the entrance, a request of the mayor after the last "confrontation" here.
Four college students, one of them being a freshman, got out of the truck and approached the locked entrance. The biggest one of them pushed the freshman towards the lock, forcing him to open it.
"U-um, guys? I d-don't think th-that we sh-should b-be here..." Called the redheaded boy. The leader, annoyed at the teen, rolled his eyes and held him by the collar of his soaked blue university jacket, pulling him up so their eyes met.
"Aw, so is the little nerd scared of some ol' building? Do it, or we'll wreck your dad's dingy ol' truck!" He taunted at him, throwing him to the wet gravel and stepped back. The boy rubbed the back of his head, pushed his hair back, and hesitantly picked the lock open.
The blond then shoved the teen towards the main door of the school, boarded up to prevent from anyone going back in. When the freshman just stood there, staring at them and not wanting to go inside, the biggest one suddenly walked up to the truck, and started to punch the hood. Black smoke slowly rose from the engine and into the air.
The teen was suddenly aware of what he was doing, so he quickly jogged up to the door, with the bully, fortunately, stopped.
With every step he took, he looked across the grounds. Overgrown grass swallowed dilapidated benches and rusted trash cans, and vines crawled up the pillars supporting the building's crumbling structure. The fog formed from the storm made seeing hard for him. Lightning once again struck, illuminating the campus. He thought he saw someone staring at him from the rooftop, but shook it off.
He finally approached it, and with a shaky breath, he broke it down. As soon as the freshman did, he could've swore that someone, or something was behind him.
The teen hesistantly glanced at the bullies, and this time, he saw both the blond and the leader holding a giant hammer each.
He turned around and cautiously entered the muddy hall, his sneakers squeaking with every step he took. As he looked around, he swore he heard scratching coming from one of the lockers.
He silently prayed that the three minute mark would finally come so that they could finally end this stupid dare that he drunkenly accepted just hours ago before passing out.
As his watch counted down the last forty seconds, the freshman slowly turned around to head back to the door, relieved that nothing bad happened. But as he did, he saw one of the lockers was opened wide. His eyes widened in fear and shock, his heart racing at full speed.
His mind pleaded to just get the heck out of there, but curiosity got the best of him. He walked over to it, and nervously peered inside.
It was like any normal locker, only rusted and had scratches. But the most prominent object inside was a folded piece of paper that was attached to the small mirror at the back. He grabbed it, and with a gulp nervously opened the folded up paper. Inside, in red bold letters, said:
WHATEVER YOU DO,
DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU, OR AT THE MIRROR...
At first, the freshman seemed confused as to why he shouldn't do both. A bad feeling goes throughout his stomach, as he stumbles a little and decides to head back out. But then his foot slipped, so he had to grab on to locker's hinges, which resulted to the freshman accidentally looking back at the mirror.
That's when he saw It.
Instead of seeing his own reflection, he saw a humanoid monster with blood red eyes staring back at the teen. The boy tried to move away, but the mud had gotten both of his feet stuck to the floor. The humanoid grinned at the teen's predicament with its sharp bloody teeth. Then, in an almost child-like voice, it spoke.
"Looks like someone had been a very clumsy boy. Don't wanna end up like those three did."
The monster pointed to a window behind the freshman, and there, he saw the dead bodies of the three bullies sprawled all over the school gardens. They had three large holes in their chests, and their foreheads were bleeding. The grass seemed to wrap itself around the corpses, and drag them into the ground below them.
The boy was terrified of what he saw, so he continued to get his feet free from the muddy floor. Unfortunately, the mud seemed to cling on tightly to his shoes and wouldn't budge. While the teen struggled, the monster let out a deep, yet childish, laugh. When it stopped, the boy glanced at it again, pleading to let him go.
"I-I'll le-leave you g-guys alo-alone, pl-please! Please, j-just let me g-go!"
The red-eyed humanoid laughed once more, then started to mock the boy's pleas.
" 'Pl-please let m-me g-go!' Hahaha! Nah, sorry kid"
Suddenly, his voice grew deeper, with every tone growing more and more inhumane until he no longer sounded like a child. His eyes went bloodshot, and he grinned even wider.
"But you're not going anywhere..."
Before the teen could process what the monster said, a painful shock came from behind him, and he saw three shards of glass embedded on his chest. Blood started to stain his blue and white jacket ; his head was swirling with thoughts
Before he passed out, he saw the humanoid smiling at him.
"YoU gOt wHaT yOU dEsErvEd, BoY..."
The teen's eyes rolled back as his legs gave in, and with a resonating crack, his head hit the metal door.
