Alexandra and the Lost Jewel

I ran down the sidewalk at full speed.  My legs were burning and my heart was beating wildly as I ran. I kept turning around quickly to make sure no one was following me, but I never stopped running.

Finally, I arrived at my sister's house, panting and sweating from my long run. When I looked through the window of her house, I spotted someone inside.  A stranger, perhaps? I don’t know if it was a he or she, but the person ran out of her house so fast that I could barely see who it was. From the person’s speed, for a quick second I thought it was my sister’s best friend, Avery. Avery is on the track team.  She is one of the fastest runners on the team.

The reason I came running so fast to my sister's house was because she texted me and I quote, “Get to my house as fast as you can, its an emergency!” So obviously, I came running extremely fast. When I went inside she was in her room knocked out. Then she woke up. I gave her some water. I then asked her what happened.

She said, “I was just in bed watching a movie on my phone, when suddenly I heard a creak through the window.  I thought it was the wind so I went to close it, then I saw a shadow move in the backyard.”

She explained that at that point she was terrified, so she hid under her bed. When the person that came into her house found her he/she knocked her out. When she woke up he/she was gone and the only thing she said she remembered was he/she was carrying a black case. She saw long hair on the person so she thinks it’s a girl.

I asked her, “If it was a girl, then what did she steal?”

“I don't know,” she answered. “Wait a minute!” she shouted. Then as she walked toward her closet she repeatedly said,

“Oh no.”

I asked, “What's wrong?”

Then she got to the closet and took out a tiny box.  When she opened it she screamed, “no!”

I asked her again, “What is wrong?”

She said, “Remember the jaguar's jewel that dad gave me when he died?”

“Yes,” I answered.

“Okay, but does it even do anything? Is it worth finding?” I asked, confused.

“If that jewel gets in the wrong hands it can cause great horror and destruction!” my sister screamed.

When Alexandra said that I thought she was joking, but she wasn’t.

“We have to find that jewel,” she said.

“Luckily I still work with the police department,” I said with pride.

“We better get down there quickly!” she shouted.

“I mean, it is the middle of the night; it’s not like the robber is going to come again. Let’s just wait till tomorrow. you should get some rest,” I said.

“Okay fine.  I am guess I’m kind of tired too.” said Alex (short for Alexandra).

“Rise and shine Alex,” I yelled

“Ahhhhh you scared me” said Alexandra

“Sorry, hopefully this breakfast will make up for it. You do need your energy if we are going to find the criminal,” i said.

5 minutes later………………..

“Well we better get going.” said Alex
