It was the first day of kindergarten. I had my yellow dress on. I was so excited. I was ready to learn and meet new friends. I walked into class with my head held high and a smile on my face. I sat down at a desk that had my name on it and looked around the classroom. It was colorful and there were pictures of animals everywhere. "Hello, children. My name is Mrs. Amy. I'm your teacher." said a lady as she walked into the room. She was a young woman. She was pretty and had a nice smile. I liked her.
She walked to the front of the room and looked at us. "Okay class, i want each of you to stand up one at a time and say your name and tell us one thing about you." said Mrs. Amy. We all nodded. She looked at the girl to my right. "You first." she said. The girl stood up. I could tell she was very shy. She stood there for a moment. "My name is Stella, and i like horseies." she said. The teacher smiled and Stella sat down. It was my turn.
I stood up and put my finger on my chin. "My name is Addie and i like ballet." i said, proudly. The teacher had a surprised look on her face. "Wow. Very nice." she said. I smiled and sat down. She went around the room and the other kids told their names and things they enjoyed. I lost interest. I started coloring on a piece of paper until the last boy stood up.I looked up at him.
"My name is Jesse. And i love baseball." he said, taking a seat without a glance or even saying a word to the teacher. He made eye contact with me. He smiled at me, making me blush. I looked down at my piece of paper and began coloring again. I had just finished coloring a ballerina when the bell rang for recess. "Okay children, time for recess." said the teacher.
We all got up and walked over to the door leading to the playground. The teacher opened the door and we all ran out. Everybody except me of course. I walked over to a bench on the edge of the playground. I sat down with my paper and crayon and began a new picture. I glanced up and saw Jesse sitting on the monkey bars. He was writing on a little piece of paper.
He looked at me and smiled. I blushed again and went back to coloring. Moments later he walked over to me and handed me a note. I looked up at him, grabbing the folded piece of paper and he walked away. I was curious as to why he left but i opened up the piece of paper and read what he had to say that was such a big deal to him.
Dear Addie,
I think you are pretty. Will you be my friend?
Love, Jesse
At the end it had "Circle yes or no" i smiled and picked up my crayon. I circled the word "yes" and folded the paper back up. I put my paper and crayon on the ground and walked across the playground to where he was. I walked up behind him and tapped him on the shouler. He turned around and looked at me. I smiled and handed it to him.
I wasn't going to leave like he did. I stood there and watched him. He sat down on a swing and opened it up. I watched his eyes scan the paper slowly. When he read my answer, a big smile spread across his face. He looked up at me and i smiled, sitting down on the empty swing next to him. He put the note in his pocket.
"What is ballet?" he asked me with a weird look on his face. I giggled. "It's dancing." i said. He nodded. He looked at me. "Do you like baseball?" he asked. I shrugged. "Never seen it." i said. He gasped. "You have never seen baseball?" he asked, throwing his arms in the air. I laughed and shoo my head. He looked at me in disbelief.
"Are you even human?" he asked me. I laughed. "I think so." i said, looking down at myself. He smiled and shook his head. Just then a black shaddow came over us. We both looked up and saw a big boy standing in front of us. He was in my class. I think his name was Toby. He just looked at us. "Let me have your swing." he said, looking at me. I just sat there, staring at him.
"Did you hear me? Let me have your swing!" he yelled. I looked at Jesse, then back at him. "I uh-" i was cut off by Toby pushing me off the swing. I landed in a mud hole. I got mud all over my yellow dress. I looked up at him in fear. Jesse jumped up and hit him in the nose. "Don't hurt Addie you idiot!" he yelled. Toby stared at him. He pushed Jesse and Jesse hit him in the eye before the teacher came.
"What in the world i going on!" she yelled. Jesse looked at her. "Toby pushed Addie off the swing so i hit him in the face." he said, without showing fear of getting in trouble. She grabbed Jesse and Toby by the arm. She looked at me. "Come with me dear and i'll call your parents to come get you so you can change clothes." she said.
I got up and followed her over to the classroom door. We walked inside and she made Toby and Jesse sit on opposite sides of the room. Mrs. Amy walked into her office to call my mom. I walked over and sat beside Jesse. "Thank you." i said, grabbing his hand. He looked at me and smiled. "No big deal." he said, holding my hand.
"You're my hero, Jesse." i said, kissing him on his cheek. He blushed and the teacher walked into the room. She looked at me. "Addie, your parents will be here soon. I need you three to come with me to the office." she said. We all stood up. Me and Jesse followed her down the hallway. I looked down and noticed we were still holding hands.
I looked up at him. "I'm sorry you got in trouble for me, Jesse." i said. He looked down at me. "I'd go to jail for you, Addie." he said. I smiled and we walked into the office. Mrs. Amy told me to wait in the lobby. I let go of Jesse's hand and sat down in a chair. She grabbed Jesse and Toby's arms and led them into the principals office, Toby leaving a trail of blood from his nose the whole way.
(Okay this is my first fanfic that doesn't involve a celebrity. I hope you like it i put a lot of thought into it. 5 votes and 5 reads for the next chapter. xoxo)
