Sage: Thanks. I should go.
(7:30)
Josh: Where's your date?
Sage: He's running a bit late.
Anna: Wait, you actually have a date?
Sage: Yeah. It's that next door neighbor I was talking about.
Lili: Very impressed. Well, I'm gonna go dance.
Carter: Wanna dance, Anna?
Anna: Yes.
Josh: I'm hungry, so I'll go eat.
(a while later)
Lili: That date still hasn't shown up.
Sage: I'm starting to think he won't show up. I still got a date though, so I win the bet.
Josh: Doesn't count. You actually have to bring your date to the dance. He isn't here, is he?
Sage: I never said I had to bring my date. I said if I can get a date I win. You all agreed to that.
Josh: Well played.
Lili: Sage can't seriously be that smart. Who knows if she even got a date?
Josh: Good point. Before you win, you have to have proof.
(Sage takes out phone)
Sage: I have a message from Felix.
Voicemail Felix: Hey Sage, I won't be able to go to the dance tonight. My mom is making me babysit my younger sister. Sorry.
Josh: Dangit!
Anna: What's up.
Sage: I won the bet.
Carter: Then where's your date.
Lili: Sage found a loophole.
Josh: Yup. When we agreed to the bet, we agreed that she only had to get a date, but it didn't matter if she brought him to the dance. She has proof that she actually had a date, so she won the bet.
Anna: Wow. Well played.
(A while later. Sage is in the hall sipping juice.)
Dylan: Sage, right?
Sage: Yeah. Do I know you?
Dylan: We met in detention a few weeks ago.
Sage: Oh yeah. I remember you. Annoying guy sitting next to me. Dylan, right?
Dylan: Yup. I was kinda hoping you reconsidered.
Sage: Reconsidered what?
Dylan: Going out with me. We're at a dance and all.
Sage: Hmm. Maybe I'll consider one dance.
Dylan: Cool.
Sage: You know what? I'm just standing here doing almost nothing. Let's go dance.
(a few minutes later)
Sage: Huh, you're actually a pretty good dancer.
Dylan: I am a street dancer on weekends. How else would I get money without a job?
Sage: Haha. Wait seriously?
Dylan: Yes. Do you not like the whole no-job thing?
Sage: I don't have a job either.
Dylan: So what are your special talents?
Sage: Well reading and troublemaking.
Dylan: Besides that. I know that part already.
Sage: Hmm. I guess I'm a pretty good painter.
Dylan: That's awesome.
Sage: You're not the jerk I thought you were.
Dylan: Same.
Sage: You thought I was a jerk?
Dylan: I like you, but you kept turning me down.
Sage: OK. You like me?
Dylan: I thought that was obvious.
Sage: Guess I didn't see it.
Dylan: Would you like to go on a real date?
Sage: Um sure, but one thing.
Dylan: What?
Sage: Read.
Dylan: I should have known. OK book girl. You have a deal.
Sage: Good.
Dylan: I'm gonna go get some punch. Want some?
Sage: Sure.
(Dylan leaves and Lili walks over)
Lili: (screaming) Hi, having fun?
Sage: I can hear you. You don't need to shout.
Lili: Sorry. Having fun?
Sage: I guess so.
Lili: I'm having so much fun! The dancing, the drinks, the snacks.
Sage: Good. Have you seen anyone else?
Lili: I think Josh went home to call Vanessa. Anna and Carter are around here somewhere. Probably still dancing.
Sage: Ok.
Lili: I should get back to the dance floor. I am on fire!
(Lili leaves and Dylan comes back with punch)
Sage: This is good. Wanna take a walk outside?
Dylan: Sure.
(They walk outside)
Sage: This is nice, don't you think?
Dylan: Yeah. Yeah.
Sage: So....
Dylan: I don't know. I can walk you home.
Sage: Actually that would be nice. I'm a little tired.
(They start walking toward Sage's house)
Dylan: Did you have fun?
Sage: I think I did, after you showed up.
Dylan: Glad I brightened your night.
Sage: Me too. So um we could go out this Saturday.
Dylan: Sounds cool. Lunch?
Sage: Yeah.
Dylan:
Sage:
Dylan: Ok.
Sage: Well this is my house. Bye.
Dylan: Bye.
(Sage is heading toward the door.)
Dylan: Wait.
Sage: Yeah.
(Dylan kisses Sage)
Sage: Um, that was something.
Dylan: Sorry. Probably should not have done that.
Sage: It's OK.
Dylan: Good then. Bye.
Sage: Bye.
Dylan: See you Saturday.
Sage: Yup.
(Sage goes inside)
