-Chapter 1-

The boat rocks side to side on the salty ocean and I can feel my stomach quiver in anxiety; No matter how long I stay on this boat, I will always feel sickness creep on me.

"The Island approaches," Said Captain Deen, an older gentleman with greys streaking his beard and scars to show hes a warrior. "Maybe today I'll show you all my expertise in Monster Hunting!". I couldn't help the grin on my lips when he spoke of the sport, but we all know his hunting days ended long ago, shown by how hes borderline blind.

I felt the gentle touched of his hand on my head, my feline ears twitching in curiosity. Looking up at him, he smiled to me and said, "Today is a special day, you are positively glowing.."

What a strange thing to say. Laughing off his odd remark to me, I shrugged off his head, tail flicking softly. I shoved the crate I was attenting to, trying to forget what he said. 'Glowing? What the hell! He can barely see in front of him.'

Time passed and we arrived to the Trading Port, anchoring our voyager in a large section near one of their warehouse-like areas. Men began to take items and other inventory, yelling heard as boxes were all over the place, export and inport. Being the small cabin boy, I continjed to just clean, eyes downcast to the floor.

The day was like any other when we reached a trading port; everyone too busy to talk. But nighttime was when things got interesting. The meat and ale were brought out to celebrate the safe travels and successful trade. My tail tightened around my waist defensively as some men walked buy, drunk off their asses and still swinging their cups at me. Nose scrunched up in disgust, I hopped off my perch and onto the now empty port, taking a walk.

"Filthy sea-men, getting my only pair of clothing dirty! Now I have to wash it!" I was far enough where I didnt see the lights from the ship or heard the music, following the sound of rushing water. The Jungle was bustling with night life, brighter than what I would have expected. Plants curled like tentacles; glowing brightly with reptiles climbing up their stalks. Trees miles high, hiding the moons light from the ground. It was almost as if it was its own world on Earth; seperate and untouched by us dirty creatures. A flying insect buzzed past me and I squeaked, stepping back and losing my balance.

I fell onto my ass, feeling my rump get cold. My hand was rested in water.. Water? A sigh left me.

"Great, now theres mud on my pants.." Slowly and carefully, I got back up, unbuttoning my pants slowly. Luckily I wore no shoes, so kicking off the disgusting pair of shorts was easy. Next was my shirt, which I barely knew how to work it. Buttons were my mortal enemy, aggrivating to use!

"Fuck! Stupid-!" The sounds of leaves rustling behind me stopped my rant of buttons, my body freezing in surprise. I could feel my heart pump harder, tail flicking downwards in defense.

"Who's there!" I yelled, quickly pivoting and facing behind me, where the sound had come from. The rustling had stopped long ago but my nose picked up the scent of Death.

What a dreadful and disgusting smell.
